Bill Lewis. Took a National Championship team and destroyed it in 2.5 years before getting fired. Undefeated in 1990 under Bobby Ross. Won 1 game in 1994 under Lewis. Sickening.

Paul Johnson is headed that way.

How the frick can you say a coach who put the talent on your team to achieve 10 wins the year after he was fired left you in "shambles"

I've very tempted to say Houston Nutt, but we were already struggling when he arrived and didn't exactly sink that much while he was here. It would be better to say that Nutt ran our program into mediocrity.

Petrino definitely ran us into the ground, but we had some good years before it happened.

He who shall not be named...(Curley Hallman)

Well, he certainly delivered the death blow, but Arnsparger and Archer left the cupboard pretty bare...Arnsparger did not recruit and Archer was just bad at recruiting. He basically gave New Orleans up to FSU, Miami and Nebraska and other Big 12 teams. I graduated in 1991 and no one from New Orleans was signing with LSU. The St. Aug guy went to FSU, McDonough 35 guys were going to Nebraska, Other catholic league guys were going to Nebraska ( Mickey Joseph) Colorado ( Vance Joseph and Kordell Stewart) Kansas frekkin State ( Mike Smith)Most of this was done prior to Hallman setting foot in the Wafffle House on College.

Hudson Hallman was a very good recruiter, just a bad gameday coach...a very bad gameday coach....horrible

Joker Phillips. Ran the program so far into the ground we may never dig out.

I won't say run into the ground, because of what he inherited, but the Croom hire set us wayyyyy back after achieving success just 5-10 years earlier. The Croom years allowed a few other programs to pass us by during that time as well.

Not that the upvotes aren't obvious but this is far and away the best response.
Well played.

I won't name him but my pee wee team had an idiot that ran us the frike into the ground. 0-16 over two years and scored one TD in that time frame. He would bring pre-game meals to us. Potted meat sandwiches. Never forget how miserable playing on that team was.

Question. Who in the hell at State thought this was a good idea?
