That's not a QB. He played QB, but he wasn't a QB.
Kind of like Brad Smith and Pat White.

Harsin going to be a better HC? I do not think so!

inherited him, and he wasn't really a QB.
You said developed not recruited. And Nick Marshall was really a qb. Gus' offense is made for a Tebow not a Burrow.

How many “not QBs” have thrown for 456 on Nick Saban in a game?

By inherit, what do you mean?
Fair enough.
I guess inherit isnt the best word, but I mean he got a talent that someone else had already developed. He didn't have to assemble it, he just had to plug and play.
I didn't mean he got hold of someone already on the team.
But the two considered his best successes were both older classmen from the JUCO ranks.
Every HS recruit seemed to never get better than when they arrived, and honestly, you could say the same for Cam and Marshall.
But those two were already improved from their HS days when he got hold of them.

Cam and Nick were absolutely better than their previous stops. And marshall was playing DB at UGA.
Stidham was arguabley worse. And no, none of his HS QBs developed.
What’s your point? You realize that’s a BIG part of why he was fired, right? You didn’t just stumble on something new.

Ignore that shite. And trust me, as an LSU fan I can say this: resumes aren't all that important in the grand scheme of things. Except for contract negotiations. Resumes mean jack shite as far as future success predicters.
Ok, so what metric should one use to hire a head coach. I can’t WAIT to hear this one.

I don't think so. He may be better with QBs than Gus, but I can't see him being more productive than Gus. I seriously doubt his recruiting abilities for starters. We'll see how it plays out.

He may win the Mountain West

but I mean he got a talent that someone else had already developed.
In fact, he lead all of JUCO in interceptions.
He was referred to as Brent Shaeffer by every opposing fan on this board. And then he lit the SEC on fire.
I am not a fan of Gus Malzahn and have always criticized his lack of QB development, FWIW.

WEll, first: Do they have a binder?

Well, he's recruiting slightly above Colorado State level. Makes sense.

quote:Unfortunately for Gus, he still has not figured this out despite his 2 best seasons being quarterbacked by Cam Newton and Nick Marshall. Dual threat guys. 14-0 and 12-2.
Gus' offense is made for a Tebow not a Burrow.
And 2014 had a badass offense despite the 8-5 record.

And Gus was recruiting worse than that. Harsin was able to salvage the 2021 class.
I expect Harsin will recruit offensive linemen too.

No, and he's gone. But I'm sure he'll find his groove after collecting $70mil from AU.

If ranking just below Maryland in recruiting is a salvage job, more power to Auburn

Fair point. Anything would be better than what Gus brought in his last few years on the OL.
