Question: How often has an African American coach taken over a situation as good as Ryan Day did at Ohio State or Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma or even the Shrimp Boat Captain at LSU? They always seem to get the shitty jobs like Vanderbilt and Colorado.

I think Mel would be a homerun hire! Dude’s a winner where ever he’s been. Was a key recruiter at Bama.

I’d hate to see him at LSU.

BTW, he’s from Cleveland.

All National Championships at the FBS level are mythical, so a white coach hasn’t done it either. FCS is different.

The Ryan Day situation is one-of-a-kind, but Charlie Strong and Willie Taggart followed national championship winning coaches at Texas and Florida State.

Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Miami, Texas A&M, Oregon and Washington have all had black coaches as well.

I think about half of the programs that have played in a national title since 2000 have had a black coach at some point.

Do LSU fans really think that they can hire Lincoln Riley?

Neon isn't quite ready IMO. A couple of more years in the game and he'll be ready.

He came to Memphis for the classic and his statement was "Memphians! I want some soul food. Something that is gonna make me eat till I go night night. But before that I'm gonna be at a few HS games on Friday. I'm watching you guys, my guys are watching you, and we are going to offer at least 2 scholarships hopefully at least 5 so I want to see you guys go all out and get it. We want you if you want to work."

He gets it but just needs a couple years but I think he is well on his way to be a productive HC. He isn't a used car salesman like Coach O. He is an elite Used car salesman and might be on the verge of luxury vehicle... Just a couple of years and we will see if he has the X's and O's along with management skills.

No one else in the world?

I'm laughing my arse off at the LSU posters in this thread who apparently have never heard of the Canadian Football League. In 2018 there were 12 LSU players on CFL rosters at some point.

I don’t think there’s ever been a head football coach born in Africa.

Right? It would be stupid if it was easily answered. But I don’t see anyone answering quickly.
