Pat Sullivan secured the Heisman for his game against Georgia in 1971.
I have been thinking about prior SEC Heisman winners and their performances vs. UGA and didn't go back that far because it was before my time.
Did some digging and it seems like Sullivan locked it up vs. us.
quote:On a side note, after that game is the first documentation of rolling Toomer's Oaks.
Auburn bolted out of the gate to a 14-0 lead. Georgia, led by hard-running quarterback Andy Johnson, caught up. With Auburn leading 21-14 in the fourth quarter, Georgia scored what appeared to be the tying touchdown on a 2-yard Johnson run, but Roger Mitchell blocked the extra point and Auburn clung to a 21-20 lead.
On the next play from scrimmage, Sullivan threw to All-American Terry Beasley, who split two defenders and was gone 70 yards for a touchdown. It was Sullivan’s third touchdown pass and Beasley’s second touchdown catch. After a long James Owens’ punt return, Sullivan threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Dick Schmalz for his fourth touchdown pass, and it was over. Sullivan finished 14-for-24 for 248 yards, but the four touchdown passes got nationwide attention.
It was that day that Sullivan locked up the Heisman Trophy.

Not my team, but back in time 1966 …
Steve Spurrier kicked 44 yd field goal to beat Auburn 30-27 …
…he also punted 7 times that day averaging over 45 yds, was like 29-40 for 300 yds. … all in front of national media that came just to see him play (Spurrier never played on national TV during season).

I’ll stop bringing up burrow if bama fans stop talking about smith “owning” Stingley?

Very first thought. I was confident going into that game too. Tie game at half time, then he does that in the 3rd. Lost all the confidence in that moment and sulked the rest of the game.

Ricky Williams 60 yard TD run against A&M to break Tony Dorset’s NCAA rushing record.
I agree with this.
This was pre-Mack Brown peak teams and A&M had the better aggregate talent. We were favored coming in to that game and had already won the Big 12 South on our way to upsetting #1 K-State in the Big 12 title game.
People forget Ricky almost blew that game by fumbling on his own 20 yard line and giving us a quick TD. There was a very close second fumble from Williams on the next drive which would have sealed the win for A&M. I still remember it being controversial.
Horns won however, Ricky notched 250 yards rushing and broke a crazy NCAA record. Heisman was won.

there would be no aTm posters in here.
I was waiting for the thread about losing the Heisman since VY did against A&M in '05. His sulking on the bench while the defense was playing was a great look.

If any individual team caused the end of Nebraska’s relevancy, it was Colorado
Not Texas

But according to your friend AGGIES, that 259 that Ricky ran for would've only been 59 if the field wasn't flooded.

Disagree, the run on 3rd and 5 was not that special. Joe's Heisman moment came against Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

Yes, I literally saw a loose sod field with chunks flying all over the place with my own eyes. So we have a wet field and no rain. Go figure.
And yes, it doesn’t surprise me. I didn’t use the word afraid, you did. But that is exactly the underhanded stuff the sips do. Just like how they cut the A/C to the visitors locker room when LSU came to play recently.
Ridiculous. If that were true the equipment guys would've changed them out as soon as you guys stepped on the field. This isn't pee wees. It's like you never played football before.
You guys are full of excuses around here. The grass was wet. We turned the AC off in LSU's locker room. Georgia didn't want to be there.

Burrow against Texas or Georgia.

Texas A&M made a bunch of Heisman winners. Unfortunately for them, e winner played for the other team.
