I just have trouble wrapping my mind around why people would have an issue with OSU being given the shot.

Think of it this way...There is only ONE WAY that the season could end with no controversey, and that is to allow OSU the shot at LSU. If they are left out, the argument could always be made that "maybe Oklahoma State was the best team in the country in 2011 but they never got the chance to play in the title game."

If Bama is left out, there is no controversey IMO....Alabama fans might say, "we were one of the 2 best teams in the country and got left out." But that argument is quickly defeated when you consider that LSU beat Alabama...."You had your shot against #1, and lost."

I just don't see how anyone can argue that Oklahoma State doesn't deserve to play for the title, assuming they beat OU. We will NEVER know if OSU is better than Bama/LSU if we don't give them a shot. We already know LSU is better (even if it's just on the scoreboard) than Alabama.

Many voters have Stanford and Va Tech ahead of OSU. If they don't get a shot then how do we know they are not better than Bama/LSU if we don't give them a shot too? Your argument sounds good, but it has holes.

Um, this is one guy's vote.
Yes, I understand that. But, you dont think that Ok state is going to pickup votes from all the northern voters that despise the SEC? They're chomping at the bit to prevent an all SEC title game.

FWIW I think Bama is the second best team in the country and they should play LSU.

But Human voters are going to change there mind if Ok state beats OU. It will be very close though. These people that keep saying Bama-LSU national title is a lock are retarded, alot of football to be played.

Well, IMO VaTech is eliminated due to schedule...Not even close to OSU or Bama. So they're not even (or shouldn't even be) in the discussion.

Stanford is out, because they didn't win their conference AND don't have the SOS that Bama/LSU/OSU have.

Again...VaTech and Stanford aren't in the running IMo, and shouldn't be...relative to the other three (OSU/Bama/LSU)

Not really. They picked up 5 votes last week. Actually I'm not even sure those 5 went to OSU. There's no sign of an anti-rematch movement.

Geeze, how many of you Tiggers have google alerts set for "OSU and HARRIS POLL"?

I don't think either team has a reason to be upset with the final decision. When you leave your fate in the hands of the voters, you lose the right to complain. We will know what "America wants" when we see the final BCS poll. Since OSU is stronger in the computers, media and coaches from the entire country will have to rank Bama higher for them to be in the championship. If that is the case, bring them on.

I've tried to sift through as much crap as I could, but I haven't seen anyone break down what will happen if OSU ends up 3rd in Harris and USA today polls. Are they strong enough in the computers to jump Bama? I know they were 5th in both polls this week and were 3rd in the final BCS.

Why do you care though? Your team is in no matter what. I don't get all the "research" and google alerts LSU fans are setting. If my team is a LOCK for the NC, like LSU, then I don't give a damn who the other team is...I'd spend exactly zero minutes and zero seconds worrying about who the other team is. IDGI.

Does he really hate LSU? Interesting, if true.

He abosulutely does. Jay Walker will find anything negative about LSU and promote it.

They basically have to be ranked like 2.75 average in the polls or something like that. Basically they need to get ALL the 3rd place votes from Va Tech and Stanford, etc and take some 2nd place votes from Bama. The more 4th and 5th place votes they continue to get, the more 2nd place votes they have to take from Bama. Nobody knows and it's likely to be within a dozen or so votes either way in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure I wrote in my post that if Bama is the country's decision then "bring them on". Of course I am interested in who my opponent in the national championship is going to be.

My point was that we will get whichever game the country, represented by sports writers and coaches, want to see.

Don't you think THE REASON LSU fans are so enamored with "who is going to be #2" is because we don't have anything else to worry about...we're in.

Seems pretty reasonable to me...we don't have shite else to discuss besides who we're going to play and how great we are. And discussing "how great we are" isn't all that fun and kinda gets old. "Who's #2" is so much more interesting/debatable/etc.

Also, it's a pretty big deal to LSU fans that we already beat Alabama. Whether you agree or not, it's certainly a reasonable position to believe that We already beat Alabama, why do they deserve a second crack at LSU?

you would if you were like LSU fans, wanting the easiest match possible. OSU's abomination of a defense will just lay down and die for LSU; they'll probably win by 30 if they get the matchup they want.

The only thing more embarrassing than Bama having to plead its case for the NC game is LSU fans going bitch mode and wanting the easiest game possible imho.

I guess so. But it just comes across as 'Oh i hope we get the easy team'.

I'm on record as saying I don't think the rematch is fair to LSU, but that was before everyone between us shite the bed, now I'm hoping we get in but if we don't I'm cool with that too since I see the reasoning behind all the reasons why we shouldn't.

I do think the ballots being revealed will work out in our favor. It is hard to argue that Bama is the 2nd best team, even if OSU blows out OU at bedlam - they both have awful losses..not impressive compared to Bama's one loss in OT by 3 to the #1.
