"Not gonna happen. Bama will play Ut every year and aubie will get Florida back as they have begged for for years. Historical rivalries are to be protected and held sacred as LSU fans have pointed out this week (funny how that opinion changed with this expansion)
Only divisions allow that. Now if further expansion happens, which probably will, u will need an nfl model and pods will happen with an nfl type playoff scenario amount the 3 conferences. Eventually college ball will be a 20 game season for the national champs."

What game are you worried about?

3-2-2-2 Pod Schedule

Pod A
LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas

Pod B
Missouri, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State

Pod C
Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

Pod D
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn

I’d be ok with a 3-3-3 format. Your pod, 3 permanents and 3 rotating. BAMA has to keep AU, TN and either LSU or State. State would be fine for proximity purposes.

I think you’d have to keep Ole Miss and LSU together. That’s a historical rivalry.

Mizz-SEC

Top 8 football teams will play 5 juggernaut games, the rest would play just 4.

Bottom line, the two highest ranked teams go to Atlanta (best record/head to head, etc.) to play for the SEC Championship.

Easy "yes" for these teams: Missouri, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.

@Pisco

Some of the old rivalries will be protected, but soon new rivalries will develop.

LSU vs. Texas
LSU vs Oklahoma
Alabama vs. Florida
Alabama vs. Georgia

and then C and D like you said.

No way Alabama will agree to a pod with auburn, Florida, and Georgia. Frankly none of those 4 teams would agree with that pod. Blend C and D together.

Traditional football powers strength of schedule always equal.

Pod A: Arky, Mizzou, OU, UTjr
Pod B: LSU, aTm, Ole Miss, MSU
Pod C: Bama, Auburn, UT, Vandy
Pod D: UGA, Florida, Kentucky, USCe

3-2-2-2 Schedule
Play everyone in your pod every year (3)
Play half of each other pod every year (2-2-2)
Cannot have OU and UTjr, LSU and aTm, Bama and Auburn, or UGA and Florida in the same year.

By doing this you’re ensured to to play 3 “top” tier teams and 3 “bottom” tier teams every year making the schedule as balanced as can be. This also ensures you play every team every 2 years and you go to every stadium every 4 years.

Pods plus permanent opponents stretches that out. Doing 3 permanent opponents and no pods allows you to play the entire conference in the same timeframe, but could see unbalanced schedules to an extent.

Divisions with 7 division games and 2 cross overs means you will only play the other division in totality every 4 years and go to every stadium every 8 years. 2 divisions with a permanent cross over means every 8 years and 16 years to play everyone and at every stadium.

Divisions are just too big in a 16 team conference in my opinion.

I agree.
Pod 1 Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, mizzo
Pod 2 A&M, LSU, ole miss, miss st
Pod 3 Bama Auburn Tennessee Vandy
Pod 4 Florida uga USCE Kentucky
Not going to do the math but say LSU get Arkansas Bama/Auburn and Florida
A&M would get Texas
Auburn and uga would play
Just makes to much sense to do it this way. Each pod would have two traditional powers except pod 3 but they have the worst team in the conference. And at the rate Auburn has bad seasons, when Tennessee has a good one there’s a good chance Auburn would be down.

Any pod that has Aggies playing horns every year is not going to happen.

Unless there is 1 x neutral site game per year, teams aren't voluntarily signing up for an unbalanced H-A schedule that shorts them a H game every other year.

Thinking this is the setup ESPN/Sankey will want.

Makes perfect sense for their purposes, money.
