True.

Does this also apply to opposing teams?

Multiple people have died and there have been a lot of injuries.

Not really. Counting people killed or injured by falling goalposts is kind of disingenuous.

Rushing the field, in and of itself, isn't causing injury and death in college football.

So the school has to have security and enough of it to deter and halt a rush. That may start to have a price tag approaching 500k.

When we beat Florida in 2001, the school, at the time, was determined to keep the field from being rushed. The result was a mayhem of people being beaten up by security and bystanders being pepper sprayed. It was awful yet the rush still happened. You're going to see more of this. More people will be hurt by the effort to stop the rush than by the rush itself. This is not good.

Oh, and rushing the field is a key part of the college football experience. It only tends to happen at the rarest of upsets. Nick Saban can eat a dick for pushing this bullshite on the conference. This whole thing started from him pushing to make it stop.

This.

Just keep the goalposts from being torn down and call it a day.

Some places have those goalposts with hinges and just lower them prior to a rush. Just do this.

What if meat judging fans rush the meat judging floor area?

Underrated Beef Cuts:

Cross Cut Beef Short Ribs - Great slow cooked with a glazed finish. They pair well with cheesy red potatoes

Shoulder Steak - Poor Man's Sirloin with proper preparation and grilling technique

Chuck Eye - Same muscle group as the Ribeye. It's the continuation of that group into the Chuck Primal. It's a fantastic steak IMO

Only injury is to the losing teams pride. Link to deaths?

You might be able to stop court storming and some field rushing, but it's literally physically impossible to stop a 2013 iron bowl, 2022 3rd Saturday type rush.

That would amount to less than $5 a person.

rushing the field or court after a game is over

Is there a fine if you start rushing before the game is over?

.

TAMU should have kept Jimbo and rushed the field, win or lose, at every home game for the next 24 years. New tradition and all.

Missed opportunity

That’s kind of brilliant…. How many fans must rush the field for the fine to take effect?

Just charge everyone in the stadium a per seat share of the fine

Like many other topics (looking at you posters on the Politics forum) this post is not the issue i.e. it ain't the money.

The league is trying to control this BEFORE a serious injury to either a fan or a player occurs because then it DOES become about the money and a lot more than a measly half mill.

Yes, everyone agrees it is cool when a fanbase is so overcome with euphoria after beating a hated rival they have to celebrate on the court/field.

In the case of football some schools have managed to prevent the goal posts from coming down for reasons already noted, not because of how much it cost to replace them but for fan safety (and fans have been injured from a toppling goal post).

But no school has figured out a way to protect the players particularly opposing players from over-exuberant fans.

So until a solution is found no amount of fines is going to discourage fans from doing what fans do.
