I highly recommend everyone take a look at the link provided twice already in this thread stating that someone who is an NCAA compliance expert (a distinction no one posting in this thread could accurately claim, I'm guessing) has already stated that this is "not that serious".
Here's the link again:
"Not that serious"
ESPN is also citing a source that believes HCD will be back with the team within the month.

And to the poster who said "Bama shoulda known, covered it up and should forfeit games" I'm pretty sure no one but the 2 knew judging by the suspension and timing of it, the way it's happening middle of the season etc
That may have been me, and when a member of your coaching staff knowingly breaks the rules with one of your own players, you are ultimately responsible as an institution to know about it.
Is it tough to keep track of all of these things? Sure. However, when it is a staff member, as was seen in the LSU issue, you better damn well know what is going on before it gets too far, which clearly it did by playing HaHa earlier in the season when he should've been suspended.
I think the most damning thing for Bama is how it conveniently gets self-reported right before the easiest stretch of their season. That is the biggest joke of this whole mess and why I wish the NCAA would blast Bama for it.

Y'all are all dancing around the real issue. A coach paid a player. A coach. If that's not LOIC, then nothing is. Forget the agents and boosters, a member of the Alabama coaching staff put money into the hand of a player. Did Butch Davis pay a player? No. Did one of his coaches? Yes. Is Butch Davis still the coach at North Carolina?....
exactly, that's my main issue. $500 from a street agent is generally a non-issue because it's really hard for schools to control all of that. as long as they're forthcoming with information when they find out and cooperate, the NCAA is generally not harsh. but having a coach provide a player with anything, regardless if it's "only" $500, is a pretty big deal. now, i honestly think it's entirely plausible no one outside the two parties involved knew about this until now. and i don't think the program should be hammered for it necessarily. but the player and coach, with all of the information available to them, should have known better. there really is no excuse. i wouldn't go as far as saying it's LOIC, but it's certainly grounds for both of them to be gone.

Good fricking god, 26 pages from a kid borrowing 3-400 bucks and then paying it back. You people are fricking insane.
What I think should happen.
Haha booted (make an example of him)
Coach fired
Self impose a scholy or 2
What will most likely happen
2-4 game suspension
Coach fired
The end
Y'all can argue about burden of proof, the definition of cheating, who cheats more, who gets caught more, etc etc yada yada yada. Won't chance a damn thing. NCAA is too impotent to take on a program with teeth. The way they took out all their aggression on powerless penn st proves they can only pick on the weak now.

Haha's black arse will be sitting the bench for at least a month and he will be running till be pukes everyday. Saban/UA will pay a few grand to have more motivators-therapists drill more compliance & life skills shite into our players heads - the UA compliance folks will throw together another remedial workshop on agents and illegal benefits and life will go the frick on at Bama.

That's from an Alabama paper. They probably talked to a current or former compliance person from one of that state's schools. The rest of us don't think anyone in residing in the state of Alabama could give an honest answer about any of this.

with the total lack of consistency from the NCAA in terms of how they implement punishments for violations, it's really hard, even for a compliance expert, to know what they'll do. now, i honestly don't think this is going to amount to more than he thinks, but at the same time, you really never know with the NCAA. they rarely follow their own precedent when it comes to stuff like this. not to mention there are so many loopholes in their by-laws, that it makes it nearly impossible for people to predict how they'll interpret things when rendering a decision.

They'll do their usual 10-minute investigation, declare all is well, and that will be that. There may even be a quickly written cease and desist letter that shows up. No worries.

We'll hold off for now. Call us when you give back Cam's rented trophy.

I think it is 100% safe to say the coach is gone. Probably 'suspended' until the HR people do whatever they must to formally dismiss him.
Not as sure about HaHa, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's gone too.
Otherwise, unless someone can show Bama covered anything up I think it ends there.

That might have been the case if he Yahoo/Fluker story wasn't out there. Agents, former players acting as runners for agents, boosters, and now coaches paying players. Huge shitstorm coming and it's just now starting to sprinkle.
