No doubt, he is good. But if you are going off of past history with him, I would be worried of the shape of the program he leaves you in when he is out. But that is no different with any coach I guess.
As long as he is there, Auburn should be pretty good.

Gus seems legit. I'm ready for him to string it together for a few years at AU and settle in for the long haul.

True. Will be interesting to see him coach in the NFL soon.

He saw Spurriers failure and will not make that mistake.

I played against Hughes in 2009.. They're not the same without ol' Gus

Kind of odd you used him as an example

Lotta "played for" in there. Same as "appearances". Looks like he has trouble winning the big one. Other than that, he's pretty solid, I guess..

Sure, sure. Just wait until SEC DC's figure out his HS O.

Gus compares better to Spurrier than Saban.

Willy Robinson should be available. I think Gus' offense was one of the few he was successful against.

I wonder if there's ever been another coach that has had his team play for a conference title in 6 of his first 8 years coaching in college, including having his team play for 2 national championships.

Surely they will be able to stop it now that they have game tape of this "new" wrinkle. I'm still not sure why coaches haven't popped in tape from 2006, 2009, 2010, or 2011 and only choose to use 2013.

Therefore, IMO, the program won't be in bad shape when he leaves.

Also, IIRC, he's never coached on a team, high school or college, that has won fewer than 8 games in a season. In fact, in his eight full seasons as a collegiate coach, the two 8-5 campaigns at AU in '09 and '11 were the only two of his teams that failed to reach 10 wins.

Yup, the DCs just needed one more year of tape guys. 2014 is the year they finally catch up and shut it down.

Slow down with the high school shite. Arkansas high school football is a joke. You don't see rush propst coaching Alabama and he had more titles and against better competition than malzahn. He's a solid offensive coach and no one denies that but he isn't exactly what you would call an established winner. This is his first real head coaching gig where it matters publically. If he can do it for the next 2-3 years he's starting to build some talk for one of the top coaches out there.
