Well, if you throw two pick sixes that gives the other team 14 points and you lose by 3, you kinda did beat yourselves.
Yep. The opposing teams players had nothing to do with that.

Ok. Two things:
Who’s stepping up to pay the buyout? Rane won’t foot it alone.
And who is the slam dunk replacement hire?
And I can’t stand Gus, for the record.

A huge reason for that is Auburn fans like yourself constantly clamoring for Gus to be fired. You don't think opposing coaches use that on the recruiting trail?

That’s why Gus hasn’t been able to sign 4/5 star offensive lineman over his tenure? That’s the entire linchpin why the program is so mediocre. And you can blame that on his Mickey Mouse offense not preparing lineman for the NFL, not message board posters.
See Greg Robinson for example.

Those don't grow on trees. We had a guy who was good OL line coach but couldn't recruit me to Auburn. that is on Gus......but Auburn fans constantly want change. You fail to realize these staff's have families. Nobody wants to come to a place where the fanbase wants change every four or five years. Recruits don't want to go to a place like that either.

More like every other year

Other programs have no issues signing elite top 100 level offensive lineman year after year.
Gus allowed it because he wanted a yes man and is a goofball himself. The personality of him compared to a guy like Bruce Pearl/Saban/Dabo/Ed O/Kirby is a stark contrast.

He didn't want a yes man. He wanted a competent staff but he hasn't been in the college game long enough to form bonds............so he has to hire within his circle. He also has to hire somebody who knows his system.........so he has to hire within his circle.

Damn. That’s steep. South Carolina dished out 15.3 million to Will Muschamp, so 21 million isn’t totally unfeasible, but unlikely.
What makes it tough is any coach Auburn brings in to replace Gus would want to bring in their own people. (Which is totally understandable) So, their buyouts or payoffs would kick in, too. That could bring the total up another $3-4 Million. (Wild guess as i have no idea what y'all pay them)

SC pulled the trigger on Muschamp and he had a big buyout. I can't see AU cuttkng ties with Gus at all.. Covid and the Budgets all over the country are impacted so I doubt you see much movement this off season.

Competent staff? Grimes is the polar opposite of competent. Same as Gus.
Let’s go get a normal coach who has a personality who can sit in living rooms and land top players on the line of scrimmage.

I wonder if Hugh Freeze had turkey in Auburn.

Not sure Auburn should be using USCe as a barometer for program decisions.

You can try to polish that turd. Have at it. We’re getting smoked by all of our rivals in recruiting, to a level we haven’t seen before.
Elite recruits aren’t going to jump on board after the beatdown Bama lays on us today.

Why not offer Gus and family $40 million for 40 years as a buyout. Pay the new coach $5 million and you save $1 million next year
For the next 40 years you could have a Gus day at auburn where you give him a $1 million check just trying to help
