UNC will be crappy due to sanctions but UNC alum have deep pockets. Thought he would do better, though. :\

Well, to counter your argument. The only opportunity he has had to develop QB's is with Trotter and Moseley, both who are not truly SEC caliber QB's. I thought they would be servicible, but I have been able to actually watch them when they first got to Auburn, and they have actually developed quite a bit. I know it doesn't look like it, but they really weren't that great when they got here. Now, if they had the OL we had last year, I think they would have looked plenty developed.
Regardless, its hard to say he hasn't been able to develop any QB's when he hasn't been able to coach a starter for more than one year.

It's not dumb to say, if he never has. How many yrs has he been coaching in Div 1? 6 now? You think it's not odd that in 6 yrs, an OC hasn't had a chance to develop a QB, even for 2 yrs running? He's great at one and dones, but now that he's had to play someone that he's had to coach for more than one yr and wasn't already accomplished or a starter, he can't do it. Maybe he will in the future, but to date, he hasn't.
Coached at Arky for 1 year...
Coached at Tulsa for 2...senior QB year 1...new QB year 2
Came AU...Year 1...Senior QB Chris Todd...Year 2 Cam Newton...Year 3...Moseley, Trotter, Frazier...
He left Arky for OC/Asst Head Coach...came to AU for more money...when was there opportunity to have a multi-year QB?
Not his fault every job he walked into had a senior QB or Cam Newton...
I will agree to disagree with you...

MAlzhan would be a great fit for UNC this SEC West is gonna be Arkansas, Alabama and LSU for as long as
Saban Petrino and Miles are at those schools.
Miles Handicap -1

What is with your obsession with Malzahn and developing or not developing QB's?

if it happens - i don't blame him for making the jump and wish him the best of success.

Wasn't a complaint. It was overlooked that I complimented him on what a good job he does with talent. Just believe he hasn't and can't develop a QB to his system that isn't already proven. His one chance to do so, was this year, and it's been a pretty horrible year for Au's offense.

Just an unbiased observation.

Chris Todd was far from proven.

Pinnacle Hills Promenade needs to stock up on Tar Heel gear if true.
The Floyd Cult will be changing allegiances and local thrift stores will be awash in Auburn gear.

Was he not a previous starter?

i will agree - it has been a pretty horrible year all the way around in terms of productivity and such - as compared to years past.
QB's developed in the system don't matter much if there isn no running game or protection from the oline.
also the QB is only as good as his recievers - and outside of Blake and Lutz, ours have been pretty mediocre.

Yes, he started over Kodi Burns for half a season in 08 and absolutely sucked, as did our entire offense. We get Malzahn, he breaks passing records. You can say whatever you like about that, but he developed him. At no point was Todd proven.
ETA: I agree that he should have developed Trotter and MOseley more than he has, but he has actually done a lot with them from where they started. Our OL is drastically undervalued when it comes to the struggles of our offense this year.

No idea what he got paid at UF but I think that'd be a gigantic step down in the pay scale

Auburn's been decent rushing. Bama has 2100 yds on the season.. Auburn has nearly 1800. Will definitely give you the oline though. It's been atrocious.

quote:I'm not sure that Trotter or Mosely wouldn't look like decent QB's with better o-line play. Moseley has actually made some very nice throws and decisions in such circumstances. We made a mistake redshirting Westerman and Robinson. The o-line may not have been better this year with them in there, but it would be next year.

I guess he/they should have recruited QB's better, ya think?
He did. Rollison transferred out. Cam left early. Frazier is only a freshman. We just went over this.
