No, not like this year. Or like 2013. Like all the other seasons.
I don't blame Gus - I'd be striking while the iron was hot too after 3 straight years of going 23-16 and 11-13 in the SEC. He could literally lose this weekend and in his bowl game, not "probable" but certainly not impossible, and Auburn would finish 10-4.
I dunno, maybe Gus has turned a corner and will show consistency. Better hope so.

So 3 weeks ago you were more than willing to let this guy go to Arkansas....how is the guy today different than the guy 3 weeks ago beside the fact that he beat UGA and Bama?
What happens if he turns back into the guy from 3 weeks ago next year????
ETA You meaning not you specifically but the Auburn fanbase and media.

Pay him. He's been a different coach since LSU.

Did you say anything about Gus needing to be fired earlier this year?
I did voice my displeasure after the LSU game.
You said you should post comments about Gus from the Auburn faithful. I said I should do the same from the bama faithful.........after one freakin' loss.
Here is the truth...........Gus has won the West two out of the last five years. This is while saban is at bama. Auburn is as deep, across the board, as we have been in quite a few years. Why start over?

he was in 2013 as well, until he wasn't in 2014-2016

I would agree. I'm not sure what else you can realistically ask. The ups and downs are frustrating, but the bookends are impressive. However, if next year looks like 2014 then people are going to freak the fvck out.

Gus at auburn is good for the SEC. Will compete for the conference every 3-4 years and do average in between. If we could get 6-7 SEC coaches to do that, we’d have a very competitive conference. L

Meh, we went through a string of shitty QB's and terrible defenses. This is his first solid defense.

Amazing how things work out. Etling snaps the ball a half second earlier, Les is still at LSU and the Gus bus would have been ditched by Auburn!
Nah, Les would have been gone by the end of last season regardless. But Gus might have been fired the next day if Etling gets the snap off in time.

Nick Marshall was still there in 2014 when Auburn went from the national title game to an 8-5 record. And if this is the first solid defense he's had in his 5th year as a coach, is that not kind of the exception to the norm for Gus?
I have no idea how old your guys are, but he's going to have to continue to recruit defensive talent to remain a good defense.

Also who the heck is out there that we can confidently get who could do better? No doubt Gus has had some bad valleys but he's also proven to have as high of a ceiling as anyone. With what's out there in the market to day, it's worth the money we will probably have to pony up

Gus needs to give about 1/3 of his paycheck to Muschamp for both changing the culture of his defense and bringing in about 5 NFL players in one recruiting class.
That guy set the tone for the current program uptick. Was incredible what he did in 1 year on that side of the ball.

I couldn't agree more, but just as you brought up the way some of our fans have spoken against Jalen, who would blame Gus for going where he may feel a little more appreciated by a school's fan base?

I agree. And the last 7 days has it made it even more clear.

Every coach will have disgruntled fans, when they lose, in the SEC. That's just part of the job. Some schools voices will be louder than others. The SEC schools are a pressure cooker for coaches. It just is what it is.
