I think this puts the final nail in the Gus Malzahn coffin at AU. Which is unfortunate, because I actually like Gus.

On the other hand, if Miles can get this right, and get someone that has enough confidence to come coach under what many perceive to be a lame duck coach, it could be a game changer for him. I'm not sure he can do worse than Steele, but Ed O isn't the answer. He needs to go get a good DC that has a history with play calling. I'm rooting for Miles to pull the rabbit out of his hat.

This is an interesting turn of events for the SEC.

Gus isn't done.

This was a good hire for him. Steele can recruit his arse off. They damn sure won't lose a Recruit LB in the city of Auburn to the Tide again.

Would be an awesome hire. He would be an easy pull as well. Maybe throw a Co-DC tag on Ed O while bumping his salary up and you're cooking.

We all know it was more about the offense though.

Recruiting is never an issue for AU. Muschamp brought a ton of kids with him to AU. What AU needs is someone that can coach up and develop guys.

AU has no QB next year as of now, and the defense won't be much better. I don't see it ending well for Gus at AU as of today.

It was having an inadequate offense backed up by a mediocre defense

No, defense and special teams are of bigger concern.

Even with the obvious deficiencies, this team still became the first LSU team to rush for 3000 and pass for 2000.

I'm not saying the offense is fine, mind you, but there are bigger immediate concerns on defense and special teams.

I do not think many felt Steele was the main issue.

Hopefully Les can right the ship.

I just don't think Pelini would be a good recruiter with his personality, or lack thereof, and his temper.

I'm afraid that he would threaten any recruit and his family with bodily harm if they didn't commit to LSU.

Can get it right? We will probably finish top 15 making it 5 out of 6 seasons we have finished top 15.
