if they have 20k students, probably about 4-5k a year in grads, 200000 alumni would be 40 years if grads. remember schools are much bigger now than they used to be

Alabama is kind of the "default" school for the state being the flagship of the state university system. The state breaks down about 75:25 among the fanbase favoring UA, with the next generation of fans (the ones now young kids) being even more lopsided I'd guess given the success of Saban in recent years.

The relationship between the 2 schools is still a little class based and mimics the situation between schools like UNC-NC state, UVA-Va. Tech, Ole Miss-Miss St, Michigan- Mich state, Kansas-K State, or Iowa-Iowa St where there's tension between the perceived gentrified/professional school and the land-grant University.

What that guy said really wasn't out of left field. Bama does have more of a history of producing doctors and lawyers haha. His description of Auburn could be applied to any land grant school. I don't know how saying something like that is comparable to an Auburn fan then countering with criticism of the law profession? Seems kind of an ad hominem situation to me. You know, sort of the stereotypical barner response to an argument.

My neighbors are huge Alabama fans and I grew up watching the games with them. My parents couldn't care less about football. My neighbors had a huge influence on me and I just loved what they loved. Nothing like the Shula days.

However, one of their sons graduated this year with an ME degree from the barn. He now likes the barn. So there is that.

If you want to be a doctor, you don't go to 'bama for it. You go to UAB.

There is literally one option in our scholarly state for med school.

Started out a Newton when I was a kid (talkin like 4 or 5 here). Reason? I liked Tigers and the color blue more than I liked Elephants and the color red. lol

My dad was a Bama fan. Around the age of 7 I decided I wanted to cheer with Dad instead of against him.

Then I went to undergrad at Bama and now Grad school. Not at 7, of course.

You have nothing to say, so you say something that sounds like you're taking some sort of high road because you couldn't possibly explain it to me because I'm so "blind." You really have nothing to say is what is really happening here.

You really are defeated, aren't you?

Funny you say that because someone posted the other day that Louisiana has a population of 4.5 million yet there is only 200k living LSU alumni. Seems like LSU has a bad case of sidewalkers as well.

Funny you say that because this "someone" who posted is not correct. A friend of mine from school interned in the LSU Alumni Office and I remember him telling me that they sent out nearly half a million pieces for each mailing to alumni around the world (and this was back in the 90s.)

Family went to AU. I was the only AU fan (and coincidentally only actual sports fan) among brainwashed kids until junior high when plenty of bandwagon, non-sports-watching, dumb gumps jumped ship.

I responded with that because you spewed the same bs and I think you actually believe it. there really isnt any point in actually conversing with you, because you dont see it.

You do realize it used to be in Tuscaloosa right? The capitol of the state was also in Tuscaloosa. So, Alabama has the reputation of being the school to go to for doctors and lawyers because of past history.

That's really pathetic and sad.
As for me, I grew up a Alabama fan because of my Dad and I graduated from UA.

Most of my family consists of Bama fans, and the majority of them are redneck trash. So I guess you could say my family turned me into a "barner". I've never been a crowd follower, so my independent streak played a roll as well. Also, Bo Jackson.

your alumni group says only 225k which is a realistic number.
