Yeah, except for the one minor detail of him saying Bama didn't buy one player. NO ONE is dumb enough to believe that all of his recruits (and he still had a stellar class) passed up significant NIL money from other schools just to go to a winner and compete for titles.

A&M can now fire Dumbo Fisher without having to pay him for the remainder of his contract. This would actually be good for them. They were insane to give an average coach guaranteed money.

A guaranteed contract means it’s guaranteed whether he’s fired or not. I don’t think NCAA violations even void it.

He didn't speak out of turn though. It was calculated and he knew exactly what he was doing.

It’s not a stretch at all to think he didn’t buy a recruit in this class. Hell, only 25 players on the team even have deals.

Laugh all you want but he seemed genuine af when talking about how Alabama has handled NIL to this point.

If aTm doesn’t isn’t punished I imagine Saban will start paying players moving forward.

That’s great and all. But what sort of plan does the NCAA or SEC have to get Congress to pass legislation limiting money for mostly minority athletes?

Answer: none. There won’t ever be legislation.

Thank you for trying to educate Ponchy. He knows not what he speaks. Sadly, he speaks for many misinformed souls

He was saying that as it relates to NIL deals, not the old, under the table way of doing things and he's not gonna say some shite like that unless he can back it up.

If he says to a national audience that Alabama NIL deals were offered after and not before the NLI, then you can probably count on it being factual. He's not gonna set himself up like that, no matter how much people fantasize about it.

Everything he said was calculated and deliberate.

Bless your heart. Eli Ricks left LSU because he couldn't find an NIL deal. The frick you think Saban offered him?

Saban bitched because he can't get Bama boosters to spend as much as A&M. That's what this is about. Saban doesn't give a shite about the integrity of college football. He's just pissed because the under table system of paying players that he built is obsolete.

I really hope Sankey isn't surprised by this. Helen Keller saw this coming.

The entire comment is true and he all but said he would start doing the same thing if forced to.

When he publicly and to the world said "We're doing it (NIL) the right way", I absolutely believe him. There's no fricking way he's mouthing off like that without being able to back it up. No way, no how.

Oh, I think it's a gigantic stretch. Come on, man. They are all buying players (NIL deal or routine bagman specials). We don't live in innocent times where kids play for the love of the game and winning titles. There are some like that and Bama is a great choice because they're pretty much guaranteed to win a title there, but if given the choice between playing for titles or playing for money (or even more money), a significant number are going to go where the money is.

Jimbo is just exploiting the shitty system in place for his benefit and he obviously did it well.

Rules for others. The under the table spending is within Bama boosters capabilities. NIL is just more money that is not cloaked in secrecy.

This is your Alabama failure fantasy talking. Everybody has one and they typically inflame during the off season, after Saban bitches about some shite.

Nick Saban knew exactly what he was doing and as per usual, this time next year everyone will thank him for triggering the change we all want to see or they'll wish he just kept his mouth shut.

This NIL shite will be brought under some sorta control or Nick Saban will do what he always does. Use this to his advantage and beat everyone about the head and face with it.

Every off season The Man gives us all fair warning about some shite. People point, laugh and say "this will be what finally drives him out" and the following season, he's fricking everyone up with the exact thing he wants to get rid of. This NIL shite is no different.

Oh and you don't have to have A&M deep pockets. You just have to have deep pockets and not only does Alabama have those pockets, so do alot of other programs.

Saban will use this to his advantage, just like he's done with everything else he's bitched about and everyone knows it.

Yes, but it could've waited for more proof. Sankey validated his comments. Of course, Nick doesn't care but he would maybe have not alienated Jimbo. The comments Fisher made in response may come to bite him on the arse as well, i.e., what does he know about Saban that could incriminate the both of them?

Except that the NCAA is a complete joke that rarely enforces anything or gets anything of significance accomplished. So I don't have any faith in them to get anything under control with this pandora's box that they have opened up.

The SEC could deal with it.

You can bet that the contract contains outs in the case of NCAA violations.

Don't care. Nothing will happen and yes, we're still going to land the top class.

The only thing Saban accomplished was pissing our boosters off.

What's funny is that there ARE people who are dumb enough to completely dismiss the fact that over the last 14 years, no college coach comes close in terms of making his players millionaires after they finish their playing time.

Since 2007, Alabama players have made 1.7 billion dollars in the NFL. For those of you playing with less than a full accompaniment of brain cells, that was billion...with a B.

Only an idiot would dismiss the notion that a recruit might value a potential multimillion-dollar NFL contract over chasing several thousand dollars more in the short term. A player coming to Alabama has a greater possibility of being drafted, and drafted earlier. That is an indisputable fact, based on the last 14 years.

Alabama is about to have a QB taken in round 1 of the draft for the third year out of the last 4. That speaks louder to a QB prospect than an extra several thousand in NIL money.
