I was shocked when the big ten got a much better deal than the SEC, so for Sankey thinks the TV deal "undervalued" that is like saying water is wet.

The TV ratings aren't close, at least they were not last year.

They have to divide the pie by 18 and the SEC divides it by 16. I am not sure how that works out per school.

I was in Turks and Caicos last week and a pissed off Clemson fan said he was not even gonna watch the game because it kicked off at 10:30.

I don’t doubt he said that but I guarantee he watches that game if it’s usc or Oregon and Clemson at 10:30

The B1G's deal was a panic spend by CBS after the lost the SEC.

CBS pays the B1G $350M a year

NBC also pays $350M a year

Fox is paying $450M

How is that a panic spend by CBS?

Just look at last weeks tv numbers and ask yourself why the SEC is making rumbles about a new deal and why the networks know it is an inevitability…

1. Texas at Tennessee — ABC — 9.7M
2. Ole Miss at Florida — ABC — 8.3M
3. Texas A&M at LSU — ABC — 5.7M
4. Oregon at USC — NBC — 4.57M
5. Iowa at Michigan — CBS — 4.46M
6. Northwestern at Indiana (Fri.) — FOX — 3.86M
7. Illinois at Ohio State — FOX — 3.69M
8. South Carolina at Alabama — ESPN — 2.93M
9. Oklahoma at Georgia — ESPN — 2.63M
10. Utah at Iowa State — FOX — 1.31M

I get that what you fail to understand is those numbers are valued differently at different times. 1 mil of viewership at 10 pm eastern is worth more than 1 mil viewership at 3:30 eastern time according to networks that sell ads. Teams like usc add high value bc they can deliver decent numbers in a window that no one else can. There’s a lot of other factors at play I was just pointing out the obvious to ppl making the argument that ou and Tex have more viewers so they are worth more ergo sankey got screwed.

I do not doubt that he would watch Oregon or usc but he would rather watch them at 730….not 1030.

Hire Jimmy Sexton to negotiate the next deal.

Oh for sure who wouldn’t but networks are paying for tv rights to make money not please fans. There’s really not much growth that can take place in the noon or 3:30 market. It’s valuable but it’s near its ceiling. The late night spot has a lot of potential for growth.
