Per Al.com So far I am not impressed with he talent the SEC network is bringing in
quote:

McElroy joins analysts Jesse Palmer and Tim Tebow and commentators Paul Finebaum, Brent Musburger and Joe Tessitore.

The deal was too good to pass up for McElroy.

"You grow up wanting to play in the NFL and loving playing the game," McElroy told AL.com. "I started playing this game when I was 8, and for the first time in 17 years, I won't be putting on shoulder pads and a helmet every day in the fall. It will be difficult, but I know that with the opportunity to work for ESPN and cover a conference I'm so passionate for, there were just too many positives to overlook."

He was a guest on the ESPN networks at the 2011 BCS National Championship coverage of Auburn's win over Oregon.

"I can't say I was really nervous because I felt like I was doing something that I loved so much," McElroy said. "I felt like I was doing something I was passionate about, and that's talking football. Anybody that's ever been around me, they know I have a difficult straying from the subject if that's the subject we end up on."

But his responsibilities will take him to the other 13 SEC schools as well. That includes Auburn.

"I hope they know that when I go down there, I'll be going with a very professional manner," McElroy said. "I'll be going to cover the game and be unbiased and tell what I really think. I think the world of every one of those schools and there's not one school I like more than any other. Of course, I went to the University of Alabama and I loved my time there, but at this point going forward, I'll have an unbiased opinion and will enjoy covering the game in a neutral way."

I don't remember him having much personality. He and Finebaum can slob each others knobs at least. As long as they don't let Tebow catch them.

Let's petition for his sister to do sideline work.

They should get Kenny Stabler.

He made me laugh so hard when he ran past the line 10 yards and tried to throw a pass at the end of a game while he was with the NY Jets.

Greg McElroy is extremely well spoken and will do well in this position...

I wonder how he will manage this new gig without being surrounded by all world talent

Haha not impressed that's funny

Word has it the NFL Network is next to ask him to join and he will likely be working the Draft

He will be a hot commodity in the sports industry now that's likely why he retired got too many offers outside of the NFL

After hearing Greg McElroy say he was more NFL ready than Cam Newton, I'm going to step out on a limb and say this might not be the area of football he should analyze...

That was when he was trying to get drafted though and wanted to play obviously. I think anyone can see that as "player speak"

He will have a quick rise like a couple former QBs that are on ESPN now did into the analyst world of sports

Well, no offense, but I'd rather he not. We have enough analysts that slob all over Alabama and Nick Saban's knob. I think he should pursue a profession in some other area, like becoming a doctor or something. He's smart enough to do it.

Well I thought he was a shoe-in to join the FO in some capacity for either the Bengals or the Cowboys where his Dad works and he still might. I think as an analyst though he'd be pretty fair and even considering he grew up in Texas around the Cowboys organization and is very articulate and knowledgeable about football. I'm willing to bet he won't be on SECN long before he makes the move over to ESPN. He won't be as biased as you think

YES! I was hoping if he didn't become a coach he'd be on the SECN!

You guys can hate on it, but I'm looking forward to GMAC/Tebow chumming it up.

He was probably best on the set before the 2010 BCS Championship. This was a no brainer. He'll be a fast riser.

He never struck me as a "prick" or a "douchebag"

I would agree with that on McCarron TiM but saying that about McElroy is a bit of a stretch

...even if you do hate Bama

He flipped off the AU section with a double bird when bama got up big in the 2010 IB. And don't even try and give me any crap about it was a signal to kick the extra point after the TD or some shite.

Karma bit him in the arse hard though for that.
