Namath called his shot, he was good for the game when it needed it.

There’s more than just playing the game.

Bart Starr, Joe Namath, Kenny Stabler all won Super Bowls.

Just putting that out there.

Having said that, we have to SEC QBs in the super bowl. I'm hoping Stafford wins, primarily because of all years he put in with shitty Detroit. Oh and I don't hate Georgia.

yet.

Was Archie really all that great? Eli did win a Super Bowl. Over the "greatest ever" pats team.

The Saints sucked balls while he was there.

Not him but the whole team.

Depends if we're talking in college or overall.

He did own the GOAT twice in Super Bowls.

Not sure if it's still true, but Archie at one time was the only player to win NFL MVP on a team with a losing record.

Until a Cornelius Bennett cheap shot ended his career.

Hadn't considered Bart Starr. He won 2 Super Bowls iirc.

Not that it changes your premise, but wasn't he at Bama before Bear Bryant?

Yes.

Technically he's got two Super Bowl MVP trophies to go along with the rings. He also has two wins in the NFL Championship game, in the years before there was even a Super Bowl. So you could view it as he has 4 championships in the highest games he could participate in.

He also played under Ears Whitworth, meaning that - unlike most of the other QBs mentioned - he was on shitty college teams and probably took more of a beating.

Never forget the Hefty Lefty.
Dude was a nose tackle playing quarterback. It took three men to get him down.
RIP Mr. Lorenzen. Most memorable SEC quarterback for sure.

Man there was one guy who won two national titles and was in the NY for the Heisman three straight years but I really can't remember his name ...
