Greatest basketball player from each SEC school....

Georgia- Dominique Wilkins (Ant man may pass at some point, but has a long ways to go)
Alabama- Latrell Sprewell (Brandon Miller or maybe Collin Sexton could pass him eventually, but Sprewell was first team ALL NBA one year, was a second ALL NBA defender and made 4 all star games)
Auburn- Charles Barkley
Kentucky- Anthony Davis (This is a hard one. Dan Issel would be my pick of guys whose career is over. He's a HOFer. Think Booker has enough years to say he's a better player than Issel at this point. SGA likely passes all when he's done. Anthony Davis trumps everyone at this point in the trophy case and with individual honors.)
LSU- Shaq (Bob Pettit was a two time MVP, and ten time all-star. Definitely worthy of consideration and can be argued as better. I still give Shaq the edge, but wouldn't put up a fight if Pettit is the choice.)
Arkansas- Sidney Moncrief (Joe Johnson is arguable, but Moncrief is in the HOF and would have had an even better and longer career if not for injuries)
Florida- Bradley Beal (Maybe an argument could be made for Horford as a player that actually makes his team better.)
Mississippi State- Bailey Howell (HOF member, 2 time NBA champ, 6 time all star)
Mizzou- Michael Porter Jr. (Kind of surprising there was no one significantly better. Jordan Clarkson was a sixth man of the year, but Porter has starter for an NBA championship team and has the better counting stats)
Oklahoma- Blake Griffin (This is close and Trae Young may well pass Griffin in the near future. Not many have averaged 24 plus and a shade under ten assists per game six seasons into their career.)
Ole Miss- Johnny Neumann (Did most of his damage in the ABA before the merger. All ABA rookie team. Coaches felt he didn't pass the ball or really make the team better. Scoring average went down from there. Played two seasons in the NBA after the merge and did nothing of consequence. Hard to say if he's better than the better role players Ole Miss has had since in the NBA. The ABA was good but still considered inferior to the NBA. I'll give him the nod due to his ABA exploits.)
S. Carolina- Alex English
Tennessee- Bernard King (several good players but no one in King's class IMO. Was a scoring champ one season. Made the HOF despite a career shortened by injuries.)
Texas- Kevin Durant
A&M- Khris Middleton
Vandy- Darius Garland
(If I didn't leave any comment, it's because there really isn't anyone close or even a younger player coming up in the rearview mirror)

LSU-Pistol Pete. Shaq was great but no one is on Pistol Pete’s level.

Not a Pistol Pete fan I see.

Who would you say is better? I'm talking about their pro careers here.
No one else from Florida is within 8 ppg of his career scoring average.
3 time all star
All NBA third team
I mentioned Al. He has been to the All Star game five teams, also a third team All NBA guy and second team All defense. Wouldn't argue at all, but it's certainly close. No one else near them. If I'm wrong, then who?

Full career, not just college. It's not close.

Their full careers here. Heck, I'd have to talk about Chris Jackson if we were talking college. It should be pretty obvious I'm not talking college careers. Ole Miss would have someone better than who I picked if that were the case.

Alabama - Reggie (The Mule) King

Completely agree. Pistol was unbelievable

Horford over Beal for sure. Beal is a better scorer, Horford has him in pretty much every other category.
Horford's basketball IQ is just off the charts. The perfect team player.

Like I said, I can't argue if you go Al. I will argue that it's close. If it's not, then you would be going off intangibles which of course are completely subjective.

For Bama it should be Robert Horry. Dude has seven rings.

He was arguably the best college player. Not what this is about. Pistol is on the top 75 anniversary list for the NBA, but no one would ever argue him for the top 20.
Shaq could be argued top 20 or possibly top 10.
Weird that LSU fans can't appreciate one of their own for being the obvious better NBA and career player. Perhaps there is a reason for this.

I'm 83 and had the good fortune to see Bob Pettit play in high school and for LSU. It was a different game when he played, but he may have been, marginally, the best ever at LSU.

Role player. Good player but he was never the main reason his team won those rings.

I missed him. Second to Shaq and worthy of consideration. Great player.

The issue is, pistol Pete was the best before the game changed. 3 point lines, etc.. he has numerous records that if he in fact played during that time, his records would never be broken. He had health issues, but if he hadn’t, he would be a legend beyond what he is.
Shaw is great, no question. But so were a lot of other 7 footers and so will a lot of others.
The name pistol Pete will live on throughout eternity.
