Orgeron vs Kelly (potentially)

I'll take it. Should be some good battles in the future (potentially).

Kelly's offense is not physical enough to work in the SEC. The PAC-12 was basically the Big 12 when he was there. The only physical teams he played beat them (Auburn, LSU, Stanford).

His offense did pretty decently in the NFL. He just wasn't a pro style coach and had issues with being a control freak and lost his momentum. He was significantly better than Saban at the pro level. So this argument is a little...meh. He had less talent. He went 2-2 vs Stanford facing Harbaugh and Andrew Luck, so not a good argument. Auburn he lost by 2 points, on a miracle play, vs Cam Newton, and had eight less five stars on the field. LSU was his only really bad loss, and it was LSU's best team ever most likely. This argument holds very little weight to it. He had issues getting big name defensive line to come to Oregon, and it showed because you can't hide the talent gap in the trenches. Not his fault. More the fault of location and limits to recruiting success there.

I would rather Florida get Chip Kelly than Scott Frost.

I would rather Florida get none of them so it will be someone like Charlie Strong or Willie Taggart.

Well yeah.

I just think Frost would be more successful at Florida than Kelly. Doesn't mean Kelly won't be successful, too.

Get Frost to Nebraksa and keep him the frick out of the SEC, please.

I've been researching Kelly and it seems that he adapts to the players he has on O. At Oregon he didn't have massive linemen. He'll have access to bigger lines and will be able to use them more effectively.

Did his offense work in the NFL? I never watched him at Philly so I really have no idea.

That might be one thing to say I would not want Kelly now!

Plus Oregon is a much tougher place to recruit. I think UF is a much better place for Kelly because recruiting becomes much easier in Florida. He won’t have to reach far. Perfect hire for UF. Now as far as the op.. O can bring talent in and is a great motivator. With Aranda as his DC Lsu will compete just fine against Florida and Chips offense.

O will have more success at LSU than Kelly anywhere in SEC.

I’d have liked him at LSU although I think besides his prickly personality, I’d be concerned about pace / gimmick offenses over the course of a whole season in the SEC. That said, the SEC East is wide open for somebody to just take. Florida Has the speed he requires and they have sucked balls for years and will indulge him when he’s an a-hole.So it’s a good fit.

Yeah but will you still think it's funny when Ed O continues to beat that Florida arse?

why do people keep saying this like it means something? Cool we won one game. The talent he gets at UF will be so much better than what he got at Oregon. He’s going to be a monster there

Yeah I don't get if people are just trying to convince themselves that Chip Kelly sucks or if they really believe it. It's the weirdest thing.

We live in a world where people think a guy with 7 career CFB losses is a bum and a guy that set records for futility at OM is great.

Kelly went 1-2 vs SEC, losing to #1 Auburn in the NC and #4 LSU fielding our best team ever, and narrative is his offense can't work in the SEC.

As a CFB fan I'm excited if he's back in college. As an LSU fan I pissed because I know he's good, we could've had him but don't, and that's not good for LSU.

He won the PAC 12 and their BCS Bowl Game that year. Not exactly an 8-5 team that year.

Kelly may be very good for UF, but we match up very well every year with spread/up tempo offenses. I don’t think that is changing anytime soon. Should be some great battles.
