I believe it was because he couldn't get on the field. Not sure what the reason was in BR, but that wouldn't appear to be the reason there.

Best player I ever played against, Robert “Steamroller” Ducksworth of West Jones, (had serious learning disability) was killed during a Robbery attempt in Arkansas the same day was selected first pick overall or something like that in supplemental NFL draft and was going to be paid millions. I hit him full speed on a KO return, and I was good enough of these to play in the SEC and he drug me for 3 yards as I couldn’t fully wrap my damn arms around his thighs and he basically ran right over me, although I tackled him. His freaking thighs were like 34 inches in circumference, he had to get his thigh pads from Tony Dorsett of the Dallas Cowboys, as they didn’t make them big enough.

Going from starter at LSU to 4th string at UGA wasn't the best move for him.
Objective thought: He was brought in to be a big receiver, not a TE. But in the spring, both Washington and Bowers got hurt. So Arik moved back to TE out of necessity. Then Bowers and Washington were healthy to start the season, and Arik was back on the bench.
When you are trying to rehab a kid's mental problems, that's a bad turn of events for him.
I wish him well wherever he goes and whatever he does.
I won't shite on him like LSU fans did when he transferred back home to Georgia.
