This place is a fricking fascinating cacophony of hypocrisy... There are certainly some dipshits who probably would have been better served to take a shite on their keyboards instead of typing up their "thoughts", but the idea that UGA fans should somehow not be excited about this class is ridiculous. The level of dumbfrickery and acrobatic efforts that have been used to downplay the significance have certainly been interesting. Couple that with people then wanting to somehow trash the UGA fans that *are* excited as though no team who has had a good signing class has ever done the same thing...

I'm sure you have, but I would think twice before hitching my username giving support to any thread "TrendingRight" started. As bad as some of the newer Georgia posters are, he is as bad if not worse.

Okay. So how does that discredit what he said. It's still better.

Only time will tell if it is better or on par with the '17 class, but for now....we'll take it.

Bottom line it's a great class and Bama has had a bunch of great classes as well.

True, which makes their angst over one class even more puzzling.

I am not hurt at all. I was responding to the OP. After all, the time before this when Alabama did not finish with the top recruiting class (2010), Alabama won the next two NC (2011, and 2012)

It really does not matter great the recruiting classes are, you have to coach them (look at Texas), and right now, Alabama has the top coach (probably of all time)......

.5 points behind with 3 less recruits and a higher avg player rating.

Bama’s class was scored higher only because it was bigger.

Was it scored higher, or nah?

As he said. yes, because our average per recruit was higher and we had 3 fewer recruits. His post seemed pretty clear to me. Nobody is claiming we won the National Championship. Nobody is saying what Alabama has done is not extremely impressive. Relax.

I don't know why the Georgia posters bothers so many people. It's a familiar cycle...first it was LSU, then Clemson and now UGA. The only difference is the former actually beat us on the field. They'll go into hiding like the Clemson fans after a few more beat downs in Atlanta.

I suspect you were just responding to the last post. This guy was more or less saying that he was impressed by what Georgia had done this year, and he did not understand the angst some Alabama fans were having, considering the accomplishments they had.

And, he is right. They've done something nobody else has done, and there is a good chance nobody else will ever do again. There is no reason for Alabama fans to feel threatened.

Or if we win, we will get a lot more really bad posters like Alabama has. It works both ways.

I can't believe you people still believe in recruiting rankings. It's embarrassing honestly.

Professional NFL scouts that have 3 or 4 years worth of high level game tape, and that can visit practice get it wrong all the time.

They struggle with evaluations after these kids have matured into their 20s and have been developed by actual coaches with credentials.

Recruiting sites are ranking kids based on t-shirt camps and their offers. They can't possibly discern the talent difference between the 173rd and 212th best player in the country. There is no way to definitively say the 5th best CB is more talented than the 7th best DE.

Most of these kids are being coached by their History teachers and have never been in a serious strength and conditioning program.

There are about 25 to 50 players that are clearly a cut above the rest then it is a crap shoot after that. They don't have the resources to properly evaluate these kids.

It's all entertainment. You just rank the kids based off their offers and where they are from.

No... he said this year’s UGA class was better than any class Bama had ever signed, which is untrue. Bama’s 2017 class was higher rated than the UGA 2018 class.

And yet, Alabama with 7 straight #1 recruiting classes has won at an unprecedented rate during that time. Recruiting rankings are not perfect, no doubt. But they come really, really close.

No, it isn't. We signed 3 fewer players. had we signed 3 more 3* we would have eclipsed that 2017 class. The average rating per kid was better.
Shoot, we could have recruited 3 2* and beaten the Alabama class, probably. Now, if you want to hang onto that class as being the best and ignore those factors, go ahead. It doesn't take away what Alabama has done. It merely points out that Georgia got ONE class that was good. If we want to get anywhere near Alabama in talent we would have to put 3 more classes like that together, which is doubtful. Possible, but doubtful.

Here you go

Fact is the more 4 and 5 star kids on your roster the better the odds of getting to playoffs and winng a NC.

To dismiss or deny that is absurd especially coming from a Bama fan

quote:

As my colleague Bill Connelly has said, winning in college football takes talent acquisition, development, and deployment. I agree. But Gene Chizik has a national title, while Mark Dantonio and Gary Patterson do not; acquisition is by far the most important element. By NCAA rule, coaches get just 20 hours per week with their players. Only so much development can be done

quote:

It's all entertainment.

Once again to say this is idiotic.Sure mistakes are made but to be completely dismissive
Of blue chip rankings is denying reality.

That’s 3 fewer possible contributors. Bama’s 2017 class had 24 players ranked 4* and higher. UGA’s 2018 class had 22. Bama’s 2017 class also included a kicker and a long snapper, which obviously dropped the average considerably.

No ranking system has ever used the average player rating to rank recruiting classes. If you want to do that, then OSU’s class is better than UGA’s.

Just to prove his point, I went back to the class and took out your 3 lowest rated recruits. (I did leave in your K and LS, because Georgia also signed a K/P. With both classes signing an equal number of recruits, Alabama had 323.11 and Georgia was 323.31.

Again, this does not take away anything Alabama has done. The most important thing are National Titles, not recruiting titles, and Alabama will never be over taken in that category. At least not for the next couple hundred years.

Alabama wins because they had by far the best coaching staff in college football. Alabama has not had some huge talent advantage over LSU, Florida, or Georgia. All 3 of those schools have elite players. Alabama has developed players better than most. They have very few "5 star" bust compared to other programs that get "5" star players that don't really have that expected impact.
