Everytime someone questions the hire of Chaney, every Georgia fan just responds calling the OP "scared". I just want to know what yalls honest opinion of the hire is.

It’s not a homerun, but it’s a good hire. We’ve added the best OL coach in America, so that’ll help. UGA has much more talent than Arkansas, so I think his odds for success increase. Also, the college football pundits are calling it a great hire, so I’ll take their word for it. Kirby coached against him many of times, so he must have saw something he liked.

Arkansas fans, Just remember most Georgia fans just watched Brian Shottenheimer for a full fricking season. We don't give a flying frick if Derek Dooley was hired to call plays as long as we never have to watch Shotty call a play again.

Not a sexy hire, but I think he will get the job done. He can't be worse than Schotty.

OC hires are tricky - if you pay up for a great one, you are probably on borrowed time until that guy gets a HC gig. You can ether try to grab a guy for cheap that you think will be good, or get someone like Chaney who is a decent but not great coordinator who will be around for years if things go well.

I think the athletes in UGA's backyard will make a difference in his on field metrics vs what he put up at Arky.

I think it's an ok hire. We'll see how it works out.

I do think it's hilarious how pissy Arky fans are about it.

If he doesn't work out, he'll get fired. Pretty much like every coaching job

Don't sweat it. I tried to tell them about Schotty but they wouldn't listen.

Any of us that watched the Jets and Rams play were pessimistic about the Schotteheimer hire. His offenses in the NFL weren't my cup of tea but that's mainly because I don't like huge pieces of shite in my tea.

Horse shite. When Schotty was hired, most UGA fans were shaking their head. Scotty was a failure with the Jets and Rams, and had zero college experience. We were skeptical at the very least.

On the flip side, Chaney has had success with lesser talent.

I have no idea what to think of it. Fans of his former teams seem to think it is nuts. Other coaches clearly have confidence in him at that position given his employment for so long. Media seems to think its a great hire. If it's enough to get Eason here I'll be happy.

This is a thread that at least at the outset appears to be about discussion. Bravo sir. As such, I will respond in kind.

Not overall thrilled with the OC hire, starting to come around on it though. Loving the Pittman hire though. As a few others have stated, OC was going to be a tricky hire here and landing a "top OC" is a good way to get someone promoted to HC. Chaney has little if no chance of becoming a HC so he will offer stability in that regard. He's also a veteran coordinator who's been in a few different programs with what we'll call "varying levels of success". I'd say given the most recent performance taking Pitt sans their 1800 yd running back from the previous season and Nathan Peterman at the helm, he's shown an ability to adapt to the talent available. Tough to not criticize for underwhelming offenses at Arkansas and Tennessee (particularly late in the game) but would say that he was severely handicapped with some young players, overall lack of quality depth, and some atrocious defenses in several seasons.

Outside of this board, the majority of conversation I've seen is indicating that it's a positive hire, for whatever that's worth. In reality, it shouldn't take much to exceed last year's production (pretty sure a blind prostitute from North Avenue could do more than Schotty did this season) and outside of the Alabama game, defense didn't put us in a bad spot. The UF game score looked worse due to turnovers, so really it was just the Alabama game, and early on it seemed like they were holding their weight on D as well, just didn't hold up after the blocked punt returned for TD.

My one hope is that he has a short leash (2-3 seasons tops) to prove that he's worth keeping on the staff, and in the meantime that he helps hold together the existing recruiting class. If those last 2 things happen but offensively we fail to produce more than Schottenheimer did this year, then I'd anticipate immediate dismissal and if it's only a marginal improvement, OC hot seat discussion.

Thank you for the serious response. I know that there are already tons of threads about this but when I looked at them they were all a shite show of 3rd grade level name calling. I just wanted to know the actual feelings of Georgia fans
