Why?

2016:
Freshmen: Richt recruits
Sophomores: Richt recruits
Juniors: Richt recruits
Seniors: Richt recruits
W-L, 8-5, win over TCU in Liberty bowl

2017:
Freshmen: Kirby recruits
Sophomores: Richt recruits
Juniors: Richt recruits
Seniors: Richt recruits
W-L, 13-2, win over Auburn in SEC Championship, win over Oklahoma in Rose bowl, loss to Alabama in National Championship.

2018:
Freshmen: Kirby recruits
Sophomores: Kirby recruits
Juniors: Richt recruits
Seniors: Richt recruits
W-L, most likely 12-2, Loss to Bama in SEC Championship, probably win over Texas in Sugar Bowl.

Transition year where Kirby’s underclassmen beat out many of Richts upperclassmen resulting in growing pains. This team was comprised of 68% underclassmen. The growth from the LSU game to the Bama game was astronomical. This was never meant to be a playoff year and we were never meant to dominate the “best Alabama team ever” like we did most of the game. No one expected this so be glad we put up the fight we did and are going out on top with a win in the Sugar Bowl.

2019:
Freshmen: Kirby recruits
Sophomores: Kirby recruits
Juniors: Kirby recruits
Seniors: Richt recruits
This team will be significantly better and has a high probability of playing for and actually winning a Natty.

2020:
Freshmen: Kirby recruits
Sophomores: Kirby recruits
Juniors: Kirby recruits
Seniors: Kirby recruits
Stacked, see 2019

Mark it down....I am personally guaranteeing a national championship within the next 2 years. When our natty year arrives we won’t need to grow as we’ll already be grown.

We have won big games and we’ve lost some. The biggest difference between Kirby and Richt is that we are in the conversation. We are putting ourselves in position and this is only the beginning. This is as “down” as we will be for many years. I hope you can see that you went from complaints of underachieving to complaints of overachieving during rebuilding. Kirby heightened your expectations as he should have.

I’m not upset because I trust the process. Be happy with the direction we are headed. Beginning next year we should all be more critical and have higher expectations because we will know what we have and what we are capable of.

And for those of you hung up on the fake punt.....grow up. This game was lost because of the inability to convert on 3rd downs late in the game. Kirby saw the defense was gassed and that Jalen brought another element we hadn’t prepared for. He made a call I may not personally agree with but it actually had to potential to work. Had Justin a fields read through his progressions he would have seen the receiver wide open. Instead he panicked and ran.

Again this wasn’t the year. Don’t dwell on it.

I said it the day after we kicked UGA’s arse. That’s the worst Bulldog team we are likely to see for the foreseeable future. 10-2 is the likely floor for you guys for years to come. That roster is loaded , Young , deep and well coached.

Gonna warn you that we all felt like this going into 2004. After that we lost more coaches and didn’t replace them well. We had other chances, but nothing is guaranteed. Next year we could fail, we can’t keep squandering chances and no way in hell should we be happy about it. If the team has your attitude, thinking they are due and building year on year, we will lose. Next year is a grind and we might not even make the SECC.

I get why y'all are happy to have replaced Richt with Smart. It's a good deal and a definite upgrade. But I swear, some of y'all seem to have convinced yourselves that Richt was Butch Jones-level awful.

Time will tell. You. An’t spend all year planning for Alabama and then blow a game against a middle tier team like LSU and then expect to get their. You have to win those games.

A lot of teams play Bama way above their head and still end up losing. Alabama is what everyone else is measured by and right now Alabama is still at the top!

Yep- the pieces are all there. All y’all need to do is stop catastrophically choking like you’ve been doing for nearly four decades every time your program sniffs success. Should be simple enough...

It will be a good test to see how UGA responds to losing the DC.

I agree.
It is Kirby's scheme. But like Saban, the more great defensive minds in the room, the better the game plans get.

The replacement will go one of two ways...
Bring in a big name who will be here for 1 or 2 seasons.
Or bring in a Co-DC to share the title with Schumann (not ready to take full title yet).

Either way, it will definitely focus on keeping the recruiting trail on fire.

With our front 7, we shouldn't be 10-2 right now. Lacking talent and depth at DL. Lacking experience and talent at ILB.

Your offense should have seriously done a lot more against our nickel looks.
Kirby is fixing the personnel. We are going to be better.

Trying too hard. Just say ‘we’ll get em next year” and be done with it.

Dream the big dream

Doubt it will happen in two years, but hey you never know. UGA has a better shot after Coach Saban retires.
