Stewart Mandel had the greatest quote about UGA...

quote:

If Georgia runs off Richt this year, it will be textbook Clemson/Ole Miss Syndrome. (Note the example cited in that link: Minnesota. How's that working out?) Historically, Georgia is more prestigious than either of those teams -- but not as much as Dawgs fans like to think. In all my travels, I'm not sure I've ever come across a fan base whose self-perception is so far from reality. Georgia fashions itself a national power in the vein of Ohio State, USC, et. al., based primarily off one glorious three-year run 30 years ago with Herschel Walker (and some kick-butt years in the 1940s). Prior to this season, the Dawgs under Richt had vastly outperformed their historical "equilibrium," and in fact Richt's career winning percentage (.752) is the highest in school history (not counting Bobby Winston's lone 5-1 season in 1894).

Maybe angry is the wrong word, but you do seem pretty worked up about this

I'm not angry at all. Just stating the facts like the UGA fans. They want to point out they won 6 of the last 10 and I pointed out we've won more in the series. They want to talk about Auburn bragging about beating rivals instead of NCs while they're doing the same.

Uhh huh.

I think other fans' perception of how UGA fans think of the program is way off. I think most UGA fans see the program as one with great potential, but not as a blue blood or anything. I mean there are some that do see UGA that way but it's not the majority view.

Not to mention the quote mentioned above is attributed to Stewart Mandel of SI. Not exactly a bastion of light in the otherwise dark void of College Football. Not sure how it remains ok to reference a writer that proves a point in your favor, whilst bashing him later for not agreeing with your point of view on another topic.

I must insist you define this "homer" term. I have seen no display of this term on these forums.

I don't think some AU fans recall that we won 6 of the 8, one of their two wins due to divine intervention.

Yep, you're right. I don't.

I only think about the most recent game. At least until the next DSOR comes around then I make it a habit to check the overall head-to-head record again.

And, yep, AU still leads.

Then I think about recent championships, both of the SEC and BCS variety, and that makes me smile a little more.

As this rivalry has been known to do, sometimes the individual teams get on a little run. And also as it is known to do, that little run usually doesn't last that long.

So I can see why y'all value it so much. Especially when you don't have jack else to hang your hat on. Been there, done that.

Nick Fairley represents the kind of player Auburn attracts. Talented but also someone who has very bad character and morals.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Rolando McClain *is* a Permanent Captain there at The University... right?

And Marcel "Recent Multiple Arrests And I Don't Know My Major" Dareus is a proud former Tidesman?

Bad luck with cops in his old town and hanging around the wrong friends. No excuse for his behaviour but he was a great person while on campus.

I don't understand the animosity towards Auburn.

Is it because of Cam Newton? Nick Fairley or jealousy of Gene Chizik? Maybe it's because of the 2010 national championship. Surely it's not because of Nick Marshall or Trey Matthews.

Auburn people have always spoke highly of Coach Richt. He's a really nice guy and has done well at Georgia. He's obviously a strict disciplinarian and has a very high winning percentage, something Georgia people can be proud of, and because of the stability of the program, he will be there for many years to come.

Hopefully, in time, this hatred towards Auburn will pass. I'm truly looking forward to the game in Athens.

Better hope the right personality shows up...

He could show up as a track sprinter or he could show up as a white sorority girl...never know.

Yea man, I'm sure he was a model citizen in Tuscaloosa and was a completely different person when he went home. Do you realize how absurd that sounds?
