Funny thing is Sasser admitted it, apologized, and agreed that the university had to can him.
I see that he spoke to Fields directly.
Good on him. He's young. I did equally dumb shite at his age but there were no cell phone cameras back then. Hopefully this won't ruin his life and hopefully he gets to play baseball somewhere soon.

So funny watching a bunch of white dolls agree that it’s ok for one race to use a word but not ok for others.
You’re the enablers for those that seek to vilify another for using a word that they use on a daily basis (though not all).
Blacks use it to celebrate their culture but other races that sing along to rap lyrics and such are also told, “How dare you celebrate our culture using that word. Only we can do that.”
Pure hypocrisy.
If a student can be canned for using that word then ALL students regardless of race should face the same punishment. If it is truly that bad of a word then treat everyone that uses it equally.
It’s no different than someone calling you white trash, an Uncle Tom, cracker, and even more so if someone calls you a shitehead, a c**t, bastard, and several other profanities. But we only punish those who are not of color for using that 1 word.
It’s laughable.
They’re allowed to normalize it but also weaponize it against those they wish to see be taken down.
These athletes are allowed strikes for breaking NCAA rules, DUIs, and drug charges, but use the N word and it’s automatic dismissal. Yeah - makes complete sense.
Also love how you’re automatically considered a racist too just based on context from some of you frickin morons.
All of you ok with this kids punishment are pussies that allow a word to rule your lives. Pathetic.

I live in Georgia and today on MARTA I heard the N*-word used lazily without filter over 10+ times between a group of friends referring to one another and some other friends who were not present.

No. Not even close. If you’ve listened to any gangsta rap or hip hop over the last 30 years, the word is used ad nauseum. If you realize that whites are the majority of people who bought CDs or cassette tapes in the 1980s you would know that young people of any color are impressionable. Of course white and Asian kids use the word, because the influence of pop culture raises many kids
He didn’t use the word in a friendly or urban slang way. Such as “Put my n***a in!” Or “Play my n***a man! My n***a can ball fam! He’s 100!” No, he used it in a racially charged way “Put the n****r in”
A white person can clearly see the difference between the two.

So if he said "Put the n***a in!", everything would be okay?

The dumbest argument in the world is that a white person using the word is no different than a black person using the word. Anyone who makes that argument with a straight face is either mentally handicapped or a racist in their own right.
Incorrect. Like with any coarse/crass language, it's all about context. Time to stop treating black people like we're too stupid to figure out when the word is being used as a pejorative or not. Time for black people to stop the double standard of allowing the word based on the speaker, regardless of context. The whole exercise is retarded.

Moving goal posts a bit.
You took two extremes. Of course, they are not the same.
A better example for what rougarou said would be:
White Person: "Put that n***a in the game"
Black Person: "Put that n***a in the game"
Either way, folks shouldn't say it and people will take both remarks and run with their thoughts.
People just need to grow up.

Exactly. Intent matters.
I use it. I use it around black people. I do NOT use it around people I'm not extremely comfortable with, regardless of color.

True I wish the N-word would not be used in music but if yall can't understand why blacks can use it among themselves then I don't know what to tell you.
I know some Asians, and Italians that use racists words for their race amongst themselves but let somebody outside their race call them that , they would fight.
People just don't realize it cause they aren't putting it in a popular form of music such as rap.

This. I use it....sparingly. My main reason for not using it? Honestly I don't sound very "cool" when I say it I speak with a pretty bland, neutral, almost Midwestern accent, so even though I'm black I sound like a poser when I drop an N-bomb I NEVER use it around my parent. They don't care the race of the speaker at all--they shut that shite down regardless.
Because I'm a bastard-coated bastard with bastard filling, I've been trying for years to get my wife to say it during sex because it makes her uncomfortable
The last person to call me the N-word irl was an Asian kid on a basketball court. shite was hilarious

As a society, we give this word too much power. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether it is that everyone can say it, no one can say it, or only some people can say it. I'm not commenting on anyone's individual stance, merely that the degree at which people believe their stance is the best stance results in giving this word too much power. No other racial slur causes this much drama.

No sooner do the very next posts after I said this, verify exactly what I'm saying. The overly dramatic hyperbole with which people try to assert their stance, and minimize others, is unbelievably predictable.

Huh? How is it entitlement for a white person to question such an obvious double standard? Also, who said anything about carte blanche?

Instead of questioning why you can or can't say it just don't say it. How hard can that be?
