It's a mistake to fire him. Who are you going to get that is better?

0 tournament wins in 9 years doesn't cut it anymore

We have zero tournament wins in 9 years. Only major program since the tourney expanded to at least 64 to be at a school over 8 years without a tourney win. You can't keep him. At worst our next hire is a failure and we are where we are right now, not making tournaments.

He helped get the program out of the basement but has plateaued and grown stale. Absolutely the right call.

There are already negotiations with 2 coaches better than him...Matta (Ohio State) & Crean (Indiana). I would love to see us get Matta but Crean is looking like the front runner.

Also been ranked for exactly 1 week (#25 AP/NR in Coaches poll) in the polls under Fox after beating #11 UK in Jan 2011, they proceeded to lose 4 of next 6...

Bad move by UGA. Not sure they can do better than Fox.

The writing was on the wall when Georgia got cucked by Auburn at Auburn after having a 17 point lead. It was such a similar season to Mark Richt's final year.

So realistically, it's possible Auburn actually helped Georgia in basketball by doing what they did to them. It depends on the hire we see.

Realistically there's a ceiling for a football school but that ceiling is not zero NCAA tournament wins in 9 years. With 68 slots, you should at least make the NCAAT every 2 seasons or so.

can’t blame them. Numerous SEC teams have hired “name” coaches and found success. UGA wants to do the same. It’s just like what was done to Richt.
It will be interesting to see who they go after

No it isn't. Richt actually had some semblance of success at UGA. There is some widespread myth that Fox is a good coach who did well at UGA. He is the definition of mediocre to below average.

Fox's biggest accomplishment was accumulating a few 20 win seasons and making the big dance twice.

That's it.

Richt at least won the conference twice, won two Sugar Bowls, and had winning records against most all of our rivals except Florida.

I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

They kept going on and on about those 20 win seasons yesterday.

They're talking about them AGAIN during this game...

This is the dumbest thought process.

They can absolutely get someone better.
