He would be smart enough to kick a FG to win a game, as opposed to calling a pass play and getting it picked off.

Absolutely.

I don't have too much faith against Georgia. I think we have a better shot against Mizzou. Would be nice to win one of these, but expecting losses. Egg bowl should be good this year.

Okay, after reading your prediction, I'd recommend you put down the bottle of Bulleit Rye and go get a cold shower. A Lebby coached team doesn't worry anyone. Mississippi State beat a really bad Arkansas team and you people are popping champagne corks! We should have beaten Arkansas and we did, DESPITE Lebby. Lebby cost us a win over Florida. He has taken a good team that should be 7-2 and coached them to a 5-4 record. He's NOT a good sideline coach and he's not outcoaching Kirby Smart on Saturday. But when MSU finishes this season at 5-7, so many of you will praise that disappointing record and declare we should give him another year. Good luck with that plan.

State had lost 16 of its previous 17 games against P5 opponents entering the year and all but two were by double digits. This year they’ve played two ranked teams to overtime, lost by 2 in the Swamp, were competitive in College Station for three quarters with a short handed group, and have finally won a couple of P5 games, including beating an ASU team who was a Big 12 title contender until QB injuries ruined their season. And say what you want about Arkansas, it’s still an SEC road win where you overcome a two TD deficit in the 4th quarter.

Nobody is accusing Lebby of being perfect and sure their record could be better (it could also be worse so I’d argue 5-4 is about right given the mixture of close wins and losses). But it’s pretty short sighted to ignore the significant progress State made from last year, which was on par with a Chad Morris Arkansas team for being one of the worst SEC teams in recent memory.

What exactly do you propose we do there, Maroonster? Fire the coach?

Mississippi State, in year 1.5 of a complete rebuild, goes on the road and wins an SEC game and there’s fans wanting the coach fired. We should be Lebby’s biggest fans right now. If we have to fire him before 2027 our boosters will shut this program down.

He's paid to win, not to "learn on the job" like many of you have suggested. Simply moronic but you get what you expect!

I'm sure next season, when he's losing, we'll be in year 2.5 of a "complete rebuild" as well. Then it will be in year 3.5, 4.5...

How many seasons is the warranty on that excuse??

You know that’s not how this works, and our football program is damn sure not in a position to operate with that mentality. We need stability right now and you could make the argument that we’ve played some of the best football we’ve played in the past 10 years. Competing every single week against rosters immensely more talented than ours. Give the man a chance to work out the kinks. He’s got 100% buy in from the team. As long as we’re still playing hard for four quarters he won’t be fired before his contract is up.

Don’t be intentionally stupid. Obviously 5-7 isn’t going to cut it forever. And it will be a disappointment if they don’t improve further next season. But jumping from 2-10 to 5-7 in Year 2 (if State loses out) is not a fireable offense.

On paper a year in advance, State’s 2026 schedule appears to not be the total disaster of a schedule that 2024 and 2025 were thought to be.

I never suggested that and everybody realizes he blew 2 games. Everybody also realizes that having 4 coaches in 5 seasons would be a disaster at Mississippi State. So cooler heads will prevail and we’ll all sit back and watch while you bitch.

This cannot be said enough. 2024-25 schedule was brutal. Other than trading Arkansas for LSU or Oklahoma, there was not a way to make it worse.

If we had Kentucky and Auburn on the schedule this year like normal, we'd be looking at an 8-win team.

We played four playoff teams last year and two more that were a win away from making the playoff. This year we played three playoff teams, and possibly a fourth if Texas makes their way in.

Next year we get Kentucky, Auburn, a Pavia-less Vanderbilt team and South Carolina on our schedule and get to drop A&M and Texas. The schedule is anywhere from +2 to +4 wins next year.

Lebby and State are 8-1 vs the spread this year.

We've been playing with loosing every game all year and are lucky to have only one loss. That rabbit's foot can only last so long. If we lost 3 of the next 4 it would not shock me. Either that or lose early in the CFB playoffs. This isn't a championship team.

I agree 100% but there is also an outside chance that all of a sudden UGA gets is shite together, remembers to set an alarm clock and gets off the bus before halftime and wins a natty. It is not uncommon in CFB for a team to get right as rain in November and make a run....its November and on paper UGA has the talent and the coaching staff. The flip side of that its probably more likely UGA loses 2 of the next 4 and does not make the playoff....

Georgia has been the more talented team in every game but 1 this year (and that one is debatable) and they are about 3-4 plays away from 4 losses. When your season is going like that, in any sport, I think it catches up to you eventually.

Or they make the playoff and Ohio State or somebody just completely wrecks them.

Nice cope

Long shot here, but do you have season tickets in section 111, row 65?
