LSU has used Powerade for decades, and for good reason.
Despite what UF says, Gatorade was originally called Bengal Punch. Care to guess why?

So I guess you failed twice OP. Well done.

Martin Broussard created the sports drink in 1958 after discovering that the salt tabs and soft drinks consumed by his athletes weren’t adequately replacing their electrolytes.

That’s how Quickick, originally called Bengal Punch, was born. Beall says Broussard shared his recipe with friend and University of Florida researcher Robert Cade, who then went on to develop Gatorade in 1965.

Powerade used to be 10K which used to be Bengal Punch.
WiKi says:
quote:
Bengal Punch was a sports drink created in 1958 for the Louisiana State University football team.[1][2] It is believed to be the first sports drink ever created, pre-dating Gatorade by seven years. It was created by Dr. Martin Broussard, the long-time LSU athletic trainer who served the university from the mid-1940s until the early 1990s. LSU's current athletic training facility, located in the northeast corner of Tiger Stadium, is named for Broussard.

I know. It sucks because normally this is something an Aggie contemplates. Not an LSU fan.

I really never thought anything would break you bitches like Mike Shula’s tenure. You have exceeded my every expectation with 44-16 though.
