Gary Crowton, not Les Miles, was the time management culprit

If you look at Les' history before 2007, at Okie State and LSU, there were no time management gaffes. There have been none this year either (could have had one this year at the end of the first half against Tennessee but it was managed perfectly).

Every single one of them occurred when large numbers of players were subbed in during crunch time. It was Gary's issue, not Les'.

another riveting reply.

How do you geniuses explain the lack of any time clock issues in the 7 years Gary wasn't on his staff?

You simply want to look at Miles in this light so any contracting evidence you're presented with yo simply dismiss for no reason. You're all morons.

What does this have to do with anything? Are you pissy after the skull dragging? I think Ruben Randall just scored again.

Agree with OP and I knew this way before we let Crowton go. The substitution patterns were late and too much with too little time. Jefferswag and Miles had some culpability here as well. Miles should have shut down that disorganized Chinese fire drill earlier.

Remember when Russell Sheppherd would come into the game and never know where to line up?

Glad that offensive coordinator is gone. Appreciate what he did when he had Flynn. But, the last two years were hard to watch.

Crowton was 100% at fault for losing the 50 or so seconds before the throw up to Toliver but Les never should have lied about telling JJ to spike it. That was my beef with the situation. Les has never before that or since then thrown a player under the bus. It didn't help that JJ has always been terrible at clock management.

Based on what we've seen thus far this season, I still think it was a combo of JJ and Crowton and I really don't think it was Miles fault. Other fans can laugh about that, but they haven't watched this team that closely.

The OC up in the booth is responsible for calling timeout on the field? That was 100% on Les. The Tennessee game last year was on Crowton though.

There were issues in the 2005 Tennessee game and Crowton wasn't here.

My only issue with this is why didn't Miles stop it, especially after the Ole Miss game? He is loyal to his coaches, which is admirable, but not when it costs you games. This also doesn't explain the 2005 Tennessee game. If LSU manages a gimme field goal at the end of the first half, that game never even gets to overtime.

I love Miles and wouldn't want anybody else, but, like any coach, he's not perfect. Clock mismanagement is on Miles, whether he wants it or not.
