You're embarrassed for a Longhorn's fan in a thread that was started making fun of aggy?

Classic aggy...

Yeah- See Shaggybevo and Orangebloods. There's no whining about SEC, SEC network, new Kyle Field, Sumlin vs Strong, A&M recruiting ever right?

Enjoy your opener against North TX ST on the mighty LHN!!!

Enjoy that additional revenue stream they are going to "help" provide, because you are stuck with all the other strange stuff they do all the time.

One of the problems with realignment beyond the traditional regional boundaries is that regional culture is what makes many of the rivalries great. By eroding that with consistent expansion you are going to get sets of truly divergent groups that not only don't really have the same level of passion to hate each other to create a natural rivalry, but you also have this issue of relateability that will consistent gnaw at the conference at a whole.

When A&M was still in the B12, the other teams in the southern part of the conference for the most part have been them through all the SWC years. The traditions and other odd things were if not accepted at least tolerated due to long term indoctrination. Now the entire SEC is going to get a crash course in A&M and many SEC fan bases are really starting to understand why many of the SWC school had own particular view of A&M.

Enjoy SEC fans, they are now your brethren. Embrace them, for they are now all yours.

1. claimed they were leaving because there was not equal revenue sharing between the schools - the year before they left they were one of the 3 schools that voted against equal revenue sharing

No one said we were leaving due to unequal revenue sharing. No one.

quote:

2. claimed they were leaving because Texas had an unfair recruiting advantage by showing high school football on the LHN. Texas cancelled all high school games because of it, but aggy continued to hold the high school 7 on 7 championship on their campus where no college coaches are allowed except theirs (but they claim there's no recruiting going on)

We agreed to stay; then it leaked out that ESPN wanted high school football on the LHN. The NCAA eventually said no to that after we already decided we were gone.

quote:

3. claimed they were leaving because of the LHN and how unfair it was that Texas got their own network - aggy was offered to share the network under the moniker of the Lonestar Network along with OU and they turned it down (OU turned it down because they plan on starting their own network).

We were offered partial ownership, in passing, and it never went anywhere. ESPN decided to do the LHN at some point after.

And what that has to do with anything is anyone's guess.

quote:

4. still to this day claim that the Longhorns were turned down by the Pac and that's why aggy started looking to leave - when in fact, OU went to the Pac, the Pac said not unless Texas comes and Texas turned them down outright (Larry Scott confirmed this in an interview)

Wow, let me help you out.

The Horns negotiated on our behalf, and without even asking us, to move them, Tech, OU and OSU to the Pac. We wanted no part of that and started looking at the SEC. That was the first time the flirtation started.

We agreed to stay, then the high school football on LHN come about. We started talks with the SEC.

The Horns definitely went to the PAC, they said no due to the LHN. OU tried too.

It's immaterial really, but thanks for the effort.

What are you talking about? I'm pretty sure being different from one another has what has led to humanity's greatest rivalries since the beginning of time.

I can understand the passion thing though. If the SEC had added a Boston College who didn't really care about college football then yeah, no rivalries would develop. But the SEC and the state of TX are alike in their love of college football so that won't be an issue.

Have you not seen the state house threads over the last few weeks and the amount of shite talking it has brought between A&M and SC? Two schools half a country apart who have never played one another?

No shite. I think we can all agree on this point.

The absolute butthurt in this thread is hysterical.
I'm so glad to be out of the BIG-whatever.

You do realize we did a yell practice for the game at T-town in 2012 right? This isn't a new thing.

There is a difference between intolerance due to regional pride over football (my state is better than yours) and a regional cultural attitude of grudgingly given respect to culturally and geographically similar schools.

If the idea of it just takes existing football tradition to build rivalries, why did Neb/UT never become an established rivalry when they were in the B12? There was passion that built up initially, but it was soon replaces with apathy.

Why do you not see the same impact between the Northern and Southern adds into the ACC? Why not PSU and the rest of the B1G? The regional component needs to be there to keep it going long term. If not, if you have one group shows extended dominance over the other the "rivalry" stagnates and apathy ensues.

The problem is how much will this impact how fans treat the rest of the conference not just A&M? It took decades for the previous set of SEC adds to become ingrained into the SEC fanbase's collective soul.

So instead of seeing this as a ploy by both groups to have a rivalry. You let your jimmies get rustled by a thing that most Aggies don't attend. Congratulations by being so easily manipulated.

Are you sure about that?

Oh, so now the NCAA said we couldn't have High School games on the LHN now?

lol...really?

The Big 12 including Texas agreed to not show High School football and then the NCAA stated AFTER that no HS football would be shown on any school affiliated networks.

The dude is trying really hard to catch our attention on the day of our game day. The A&M/USC trash talk must have made him a bit jealous to see that we moved on.

Longhorns on the other hand have to follow us onto tRant like that crazy psycho-ex you can't shake off.
