Since I’m sure most of the world has forgotten, South Carolina won consecutive NITs in 2005 and 2006. Seeing that the NIT has been all the rage lately, I wanted to know how excited our Carolina brethren were to cut down those nets. Any Gamecocks have any insight?

Because Ole Miss has cut any nets at all or ever won anything else in pretty much any sport?

ETA: Sorry, should have referred to them as their official name instead.

Land Sharks....
you can't make this shite up...

How excited where you when ole miss won the sec...oh wait. How about when you made the final four...oh wait. How about when you won 10 regular season games in football...oh wait...

USCe is trending upwards while Ole Miss is heading the way of UT.

Well using UGA logic, they won the SEC in 2013.

I was more excited to go to the final 4, win the college World Series, or even win the division in football. Things ole miss has never done

I’m sorry. I feel like a lot of fans are misinterpreting the purpose of this thread. I wanted to give Gamecocks an opportunity to relive the excitement of winning the National Invitational Tournament. If I’d titled it, “Sidewalker Fans From Football Schools: How excited were you actually to watch the Gamecocks win the NIT?,” I would understand the confusion, but sadly that’s not the case

Don’t get me wrong, I wish Ole Miss had the balls to buy Collin Sexton so I could get mad that my coach didn’t win enough games with Collin Sexton, but, once again, you seem to be in the wrong thread

The first one was a big deal to be honest. I was a student during that 2-year run and our fraternity house went crazy when Kinsey hit the game-winning 3 against St. Joe's. At that time, we hadn't won an NCAA tournament game since 1973, so it was exciting to have some postseason success. The second one was forgettable.

Ask Renaldo Balkman how exciting it was

Or Isiah Thomas, or the Knicks

My dad and I went to New York for the 1990 NIT when Vanderbilt beat St Louis. It was fun. New York is always cool and attending a game at Madison Square Garden was fun. They were getting ready for the circus and walking around the concourse you could look down and see some of the animals.

Would you want to go to the NIT every year? Of course not. But all of this bravado about the NIT being so lame and bad I trust these people never watch their football team in a bowl unless its a NY6 game.

Did you get mad when y'all bought a football team and the best you could do was 5-7 ,6-6 and a 2 year bowl ban

Only about as mad as you got when you couldn’t even beat an NCAA hampered squad with a backup QB on your own home field while you still had the greatest coach your school has ever had, y’know, the one who immediately bolted afterwards for a job he called a “lateral move” mere seasons before.

But once again, I think you misunderstand this thread. It’s for Gamecocks deservedly to celebrate their back to back NIT victories

We had a true fr. playing his first meaning full snaps of the season and finished top 20.The only thing i got mad about is the cheap shot that thug took on fitz and later on KT.
