Game gave Tenn the east title instead of Georgia. Georgia could have had the hottest team in football going up against a backup QB.

Georgia lost the early game vs South Carolina in 2007. A critical upset that year.

I was a student watching that one from the endzone and it was beyond frustrating watching our offense in that game.

I was in the South Carolina marching band, and they put us right next to yalls endzone student section. what a recipe for fun trolling that was.

I think LSU would have taken Georgia, had they met in Atlanta.

The loss to Tennessee completed a 6 game losing streak to east teams dating back through 2006.

Essentially, UGA got better and better throughout the year (like most championship teams).

The offense and defense were firing on all cylinders. LSU didn't match up well against that UGA team. But none of that matters. LSU won the games they needed to. And ESPN did their typical flip flops ("UGA needed to win the division to have a chance to be in the bcs")

Tennessee was down 2 scores (maybe 17) to vandy in the 4th quarter.

That's a laughable reply

Tennessee beat Vandy by 1. Georgia beat Vandy by 3.

UT lost to LSU in the SEC CG by 7. Why is it a laughable reply to think that Georgia and UT both squeaking by a common opponent would be an indicator to a similar result in this theoretical game?

Georgia would’ve won it all. LSU was good but not elite. Georgia was beating everyone comfortably by the end of the year.

Georgia beat 3 ranked opponents the last half of the regular season with an average margin of victory over 12 points.

The team was full of sophomores and redshirt freshmen.
By seasons end, we were one of the 2 best teams in the country.

The only team with a chance to beat uga at the end of the season was USC. They had an elite run defense.

If the UGA run game got going, then Stafford was going to pick apart any defense. Without a ground game, Stafford could play superman at the end of a half or 4th quarter. But he hadn't shown an ability to throw for 300+ yards with no ground support yet.

It was complete bullshite. And then Tennessee had another horse shoe in the arse game right after that against Arkansas, where the one quarterback for Arkansas got hurt so they put in his little brother to play quarterback. And Tennessee farted around the whole game but still found a way to win. That game was my introduction to Jim Chaney.

???? We played Arkansas like three weeks before that

I genuinely felt bad for you guys for the 2012 SECCG. You would have destroyed ND. Now the question becomes, does Richt get a pass for the next few years since he finally got his title, and if so, where does Smart end up?

I think about this when I think of the 2011 title game. It sucked, and eventually led to the firing of Miles which directly led to CEO, Brady, and Burrow.

They did pick up a lot of steam after they lost to Tennessee by 3 touchdowns.

that's the big question and one I'm glad we don't have to think about.

The thing is...Richt was fired because his 13/14/15 were all subpar. 13 kinda gets a pass due to injury but wiht 14/15, even though we won 10 games both yeras, we were just so bland. 15 epseically we had one of the worst offenses we've ever fielded and needed to scrape by even going to overtime wiht GA Southern. Going back to the quesiton, if we win the natty in 2012 how mcuh changes? You could argue we may have gotten a slight uptick in recruiting but woudl it have really moved the needle a ton?

My thinking would be, it gets the "monkey off their back". The pressure to win it all hurts. LSU losing to Bama in 2012 was that, then it became "we have to beat Bama" and did everything we could to put stock into that game.

IF LSU plays OkSU in 2011, or beats Bama in 2012, I think the whole dynamic would have been different in CFB.

Then surely UGA carried that momentum into the 2008 season and those sophomores and freshmen won the SEC and national championship right?

you're right. not many years you can lose multiple conference games and still back into a SECCG. glad we agree

They got their shite pushed in by Tennessee and had another loss. No te was “clearly the best” in 2007 but the most deserving team won it all.

A lot had to happen for LSU to climb back in a short time, but nothing as improbable as Pitt winning at West Virginia.
