Yep. Allowing a person to get paid without government interference is the opposite of a liberal policy.

Calling my local senator now and demanding a bill to allow middle schoolers to receive NIL money in Missouri.
Honestly if someone wants to pay a middle school kid to endorse a product, that kid should still be able to play middle school sports.

Kirby Smart will have 9th graders illegally drag racing soon.

I like that a big talent rich state like Georgia is allowing NIL interests from around the nation to launder pay for play even earlier for blue chip prospects of Georgia.

It won't take long for people realize they're throwing good money after bad when these kids don't pan out.
Sure, throw several million to NIL to build up a roster. Then when a few of those high paid players up and transfer OR the coaching staff or coordinators don't do their job to get the desired results on the field, all of the sudden those millions funding the collective become less appealing the fat cat.

I like to be selective in choosing my topics to be outraged about, and this sure as hell won't be one of em

A better question is why should a high school student no longer be allowed to play high school sports if they get paid to endorse products?
Don’t we have laws and protocols in place to protect children?
We’re opening Pandora’s box for Big Dick Bob to open the checkbook for a 14-year-old athlete so that the kid is more likely to sign with Bob’s favorite college football team.
I’m sure this is going to go swimmingly.

This has gotten out of hand. In what world should high school athletes be paid? Even though I don’t agree with college players being paid I can see the argument. High school no way you could justify that.
Well how else can you expect to pay them for their commitment?

Isn’t this what travel ball is? Loading up one team to beat up on the others.

How is this possible, I thought you couldn't contract with someone under the age of 18?

Well, they don't even have the right to be born in blue states, so don't hold your breath on Georgia.

Now its trickling to high schools where the richest schools in GA will also just happen to have the best players which in turn benefits the school more than the kid.
This is one of the provisions of the new rule:

The compensation is not provided as a incentive to enroll or remain enrolled at a specific school
Yeah - good luck enforcing that - you can bet that college scouts will be joined by “unofficial” HS scouts at power school games
I can see the legal defense now, “I’ve always dreamed of living in Valdosta…”

Sooner or later somebody is going to pay some high school player significant money and he gets a career ending injury. It's bound to happen.

I agree 100%....but in what world should a college athlete be paid?

I understand all this NIL stuff is rocking the boat but i do agree with you. the money is there and going to go somewhere, so why not to the kid who is busting his tail playing ball instead of some fat democrat government leech at the school
Mainly because the fat democrat government leach will still get his money, and they will raise all of our taxes to pay for all of this.

This is getting ridiculous
In Tennessee it’s a collective to buy equipment, clothes, travel and pocket money. A means to help athletes focus on getting better and more prepared to compete at the college level.
