There has been discussion on future dates for SEC tourney and sites. Heard this on a radio show with SEC officials.

You can forget it ever being in Florida again, the last time in Tampa had a terrible attendance.

It sounds like the SEC wants to have a rotation of Atlanta, Nashville, Nola, and maybe Memphis being worked in.

The 2 main towns that will host the SEC will be Atlanta and Nashville...Nasvhille is a favorite due to the arena/in downtown Nashville...Atlanta due to the size.

How bad was it? How was it compared to other years? I can't find any tournament attendance figures right now.

CPA approves of Bham but not Orlando. Shocked.

only because Bham is centrally located. The SEC Championship in Tampa had a lot of empty seats.

The fact that Kentucky lost early didn't help attendance.

Could it have had anything to do with KY being bounced in the second round? I have no idea.

I would think a trip to FL in Feb would be nice for some of our cold weather friends.

Centrally located doesn't matter for most of us. We would be flying anyway.

When's the next time Final 4 is in STL? When is it at Reliant? Because as I stated, if any of those years you posted the Final 4 is in those two towns, by SEC Rule the tourney has to go there.

There needs to be a rotation in Louisville now that they have the Yum! Center. And the city can accommodate the fans without a problem. There's been talk that they would make a bid to host it.

Official that was interviewed said Florida sites had always been terrible attendance (Tampa and Orlando)...forget about it.

If you see what I posted, it will be Nashville and Atlanta with either Memphis or Nola fighting for the TBD dates till 2019.

I saw what you posted, but by rule and the schedule was made before expansion. That's why I asked about the Final 4'a.

Eta: my iPhone is running slow so can't look it up real fast that's why I'm asking

Jurich has said only NCAA bids....no way SEC will be hosted there...it would be nice...

Get use to Nashville and Atlanta...they love Nashville due to the location and the scene outside the arena.

I believe you it's just weird. The last time it was in Orlando was 1990 I believe. A lot has changed since then.

Orlando just isn't an SEC town. Neither is Tampa really. Jax's arena is too small.

I understand that....but I think the Final 4 site is either in Atlanta and probably now, St. Louis (within the SEC territory.

Final 4's will be in these huge stadiums...and Indy pretty has it locked up for years with other sites sprinkled in (Jerry's World, Atlanta, Reliant, etc)

Future Final 4 Sites:

2012 New Orleans, March 31 and April 2, Louisiana Superdome (Tulane University, host)

2013 Atlanta, April 6 and 8, Georgia Dome (Georgia Institute of Technology, host)

2014 North Texas, April 5 and 7, Cowboys Stadium (Big 12 Conference, host)

2015 Indianapolis, April 4 and 6, Lucas Oil Stadium (Butler University, Horizon League, IUPUI, hosts)

2016 Houston, April 2 and 4, Reliant Stadium (University of Houston, Rice University, hosts)

So 2016 should be in Houston then. Move Nasville to 2017 and the other open date I say put it in STL, Memphis, or Birmingham

If it goes to STL 3 of the biggest basketball schools in SEC will make it a success. Uk, MU, and Piggy fans will make St Louis a great time and money.

Until B Ham has a better arena, it will not be there (radio interview)...think corporate boxes for $$$$$$$. They want to work Memphis into the rotation, so I could see Memphis in one of those open dates with Nola in the other.

I doubt it will return to FL after the pitiful attendance in Tampa. Don't get me wrong, that was a great week's vacation, but the attendance was horrible.

Yeah, Florida isn't ideal for the SEC tourney IMO. I think Atlanta and Nashville make the most sense. New Orleans isn't bad either.

I would take Memphis over Birmingham, but neither is going to attract a ton of fans.

Orlando, Dallas, and St. Louis are all considerations, but not ideal.

Officials in St. Louis want a news stadium (Rams ownership)....and they want it open air stadium...so the future of the dome is up in the air...why the NCAA will not commit to having the Final 4 in St. Louis.

St Louis, Nola, Houston, each have two arenas they can host the tourney at. I guess I am stuck with the thought of Slive giving the MU folks some gravy for coming to play. Plus I believe it benefits UK to have it in STL. Maybe I'm so wrong, but who knows.

The Dome isn't Rams property.
