UT plays Bama every year. Everyone benefits from Bama having a strong permanent opponent.
Is it a coincidence that State made their only SEC Championship game while UT was beating bama every year?

No, it's not a coincidence at all. State beat Bama four out of five meetings during that time.

I think Tennessee should focus on finishing higher than 4th in their own state before they start worrying about the big boys on their schedule.
