Allowing Saban to cheat with impunity is what led to where we are now.
Yes, because if Auburn is famous for anything it's their strict adherence to the rules and moral purity when it comes to recruiting and competition.

But this transfer portal nonsense is just killer for the game. Players driving around in Ferraris and getting paid...not ideal but fans would forget about it at kickoff.
But letting players arbitrarily transfer for an extra dollar annually is what will kill game.
Very true.
It destroys the loyalty aspect and emotional connection between the fans and players.
It mercenary.

thats just a straight up lie. refs stand over the ball and allow the defense to switch players if the offense substitutes. The frick you talking about dumbass. that WAS a new rule change. Where the frick were you?
That rule was added in like 2008 or some shite.
The proposed rule change by Saban was a 10 second window to allow the defenses to substitute. It was tabled and never passed.
quote:
bama players were getting paid for NIL when there wasnt NIL. Stacks upon stacks of signed jerseys, hats, cards, suits. In other words, you fricking cheated.
You not only have no proof of that, if it was happening that's not Alabama dipshit. That's the players getting paid OUTSIDE the university. It has nothing to do with paying players to come to your school as Auburn did with Cam Newton. There is no benefit to Alabama players getting hook ups from the fans.
quote:
so basically, you were a teenager at the time and have no recollection of events other that victories on the field.
What ESPN did has nothing to do with Alabama.
quote:
when clearly you are the butthurt bitch for not being able to take the truth in stride. Alabama and Nick Saban cheated their arse off to achieve success. Its a fact you will have to deal with when you get a little older.
Why does Alabama need to cheat? What does a school like Auburn have to offer over Alabama? Did you have a legendary coach that got more kids to the NFL than any other coach by a large margin? Did you have the top facilities and support system in the country? Do you have a large fan base that treats their former players well even after they are done?
It's teams like Auburn that need to cheat. Which is why it's not a coincidence that your only 2 national championships in history are tainted with cheating scandals.

I just dread the mid part of the season with all the talk being who gonna make them playoffs baw. Who will be 10-11-12 is so and so wins their last 6…instead of “Big rivalry Game” between so and so with Senior QB so and so trying to get his first win over so and so. The sec being on ESPN will be essentially unbearable. I will sorely miss 2:30 CBS

Still remember the refs sitting over the ball during the IB and watching your players stroll off the field and avoid 12 men on the field, even when we didnt substitute.

Why does Alabama need to cheat?

quote:for starters, we have 7 National Championships. Second, Auburns 2010 championship had ZERO cheating scandals. None. Never got probation, never got a LOI. Never paid Cam. Just made up lies propagated by Bama, Florida, MIss St and ESPN and the media. All lies. FBI investigated and found nothing. NCAA even issued an writ of exoneration for Auburn. First time they ever did that.

You just quoted the rule I directly said was tabled. The 10 second rule which was never passed.
Your previous claim about the defense being allowed to substitute after the offense did was a rule that was added in 2008ish.

ESPN hypes up teams for views. If you haven't figure it out yet, then you are the one that is clueless. Hype them up when they are doing well, and then step on them hard when they fall. They don't protect shite, everything is a story.

You would only need to cheat if you didn't have legitimate things to offer.

None of those are things top recruits looking for a future in the NFL care about. Those are all just things Auburn fans believe to cope.

I'm still going to watch but the following will definitely apply:
1. I'll no longer go to bowl games. That used to be tradition to take the family to bowl games at the end of the season, but if it isn't important to the players (transfers and opt outs) then why should it be important to me... It used to be a lot of fun watching Jadeveon Clowney and Alshon Jeffrey in different bowl games.
2. I refuse to donate to NIL. They raised close to 800K for Juice Wells last year who played a game and a half and transferred to Ole Miss immediately after the season. I'm not in the business of trying to buy players for one-year rentals. Or so they can buy gold watches and drive around in Mercedes cars.
3. Traveling for away games used to be so simple (UGA, Tennessee, Florida, etc.). Now it's tough lining up flights to Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas A&M. Realignment is definitely hurting the sport.

Man, not really.
I’ve completely checked out out Thursday and Friday games.
I’ve completely checked out on College Gameday.
I watched maybe a grand total of 3 games in 2020.
I watch maybe 1/2 of the LSU games, and I don’t really watch many other teams’ games except for the really “big games” (Georgia vs Alabama, Ohio State vs Notre Dame, Michigan vs Ohio State, Texas vs Alabama).
When you get older, your priorities shift. You go to your kids’ games, opt for a nice dinner (as opposed to say LSU vs Arkansas/Miss St/South Carolina/Kentucky etc). This shite they are rolling out won’t stick. You’ll see more and more partially filled stadiums

"Is college football over as we have known it?"
The sport is as good as the structure underneath it. The grownups are destroying the integrity of the sport at a streaming meteorite pace. You can't regulate greed without guidelines that can be enforced.
Grownups have destroyed a football conference that was around for over a century. We are about to destroy another one in the ACC. We are only going into year 4 of the great NIL experiment. Has anyone figured it out yet? Football money is now going to be earmarked for football and basketball players only. The highest bidder wins. We went from the million-dollar QB to Georgia paying 4 million to get their starting QB interest in one more year to another new dog QB sitting on the bench who wants his 13 million he was promised. Buckle up kids, these Universities have got some serious bills to pay and pay dearly. What could go wrong?
