Malzahn is a good coach, but Spurrier is a hall of famer who dragged the SEC into the modern football era. The guy is the all time wins leader at 2 SEC schools and is winning big at SC. He is at worst 2nd on this list and the distance between 1/2 and 3-14 is huge.

In terms of total body of work I would have to place Spurrier and Miles above Malzahn.

Miles has an offensive background but has traditionally had mediocre to terrible offenses. Defense has driven much of their success and the man responsible for that is now gone. He also has consistently displayed clock management issues and sounds like an idiot. It's not hard to figure out the reasoning for his reputation.

He also has winning records over most of the guys listed ahead of him.

They nailed. I'd put Stoops over McElwain, but other than that it's perfect

It's amazing how things can change so quickly. This time a year or two ago, Sumlin would have easily been thought as a top 3-5 coach in the SEC.
People have become such prisoners to the moment. We lost 2 top 10 picks and a Heisman, had the second youngest team in the conference, broke in two first time starters at QB, with a switch midseason and still went 8-5. In a QB driven Offense.
We were always going to have a mediocre year last year. Somehow for us the sky is falling, and two other teams in the conference with worse records, less p5 wins etc are getting hyped up.
I'm not sure if the flood of Arky and Vol fans are giving the rant stockholm syndrome or what. I think Arkansas doesn't look as good this year as they did last year, although I do think they're trending up. The vol's have shown me absolutely nothing, other than excellent recruiting especially along the DL.

Only one ranking is indisputable, so the rest are distant by comparison.

That list is a complete joke. Say what you want about Miles but he belongs in the top 5.

The only 2 coaches that beling ahead of Miles is Saban and Spurrier. You dont get a top 5 win % in sec history (100 games coached) and the #1 ooc win % in sec history by being a middle of the pack sec coach. Facts prove Miles is a great coach.

It matters nothing now. However, many on this board gave no credit to Chiz in 2010 so you kinda need to make up your mind on how was most responsible.

Our totals on offense will always be low because of our scheme and the fact that we dont run a bunch of plays or a HUNH. For example in 2013 our total offense was ranked in the middle of the sec but our yards per play and points per play were top 12 nationally. We were 11th in yards pee play but our plays ran was 105th. Total offense and total defense rankings are skewed by plays ran. Yards per play and points per play are a far better measurement of an offense or defense because its not skewed by plays ran or TOP.

How do people get paid to come up with stuff like this? I'm far from a sunshine pumper but I can't really see putting Miles below 4 at this point.

Having interacted with you before, I can safely say 90% of this board is exponentially smarter than you.

Based off of what? Your fascination that Mizzou's East championships make them elite? You being butthurt over my opinion on mizzou doesnt automatically make everyone smarter than me
