That’s pretty damn cool even if it isn’t an official record. Impressive!

He’s a keeper, we’ll take whatever we can get. We’re not used to good things here.

With kickers hitting longer and longer FGs more routinely it changes the strategy of the game.

At some point will NFL replace the ball for FG kicks? Make it bigger/heavier? Thats about all they can do.

With new kickoff rules if a team scores a TD with mere seconds left in game and go up by 2 - and let’s say the kickoff goes in end zone. The offense is then gifted the ball at the 35 yard line. Thats what, a 75 yard FG try? So get 5-10 yards on one play and kick a 65-70 yard FG. We’re getting close to the point where it changes strategy because kickers are getting so good.

Phew. How did we land him?

I get it though, I forget his name but we had a terrific RB from Arkansas who had a very nice career at Mizzou. The kid played at Fayetteville High School. Their stadium is a brisk walk from the Arkansas football offices.

That would be about an 82 yard FG

According to Isaac Punts, the NFL is actually going the other way. They are now letting kickers have several days to prep the K balls, instead of an hour or two they’ve had for quite a while, essentially kicking brand new balls

Crap, you're right. I forgot to add the other 8 yards. So they would only need 12 yards (from the 35) for a 70 yard try. Not hard at end of game when defense is in prevent.

Just wonder what year the longer and longer kicks make league change to a special kicking ball.

Yep. Sometimes a player just slips by and you kick yourself for letting them go.

We have such a great history of kickers here at the U of A, which makes it worse when you see some of not so great ones look like they are having a series of mini-strokes just trying to make an XP.

It's a shame this doesn't qualify to break the NFL record. Hopefully he does it again.

Goodell could convince the kickers to hit the smoothie bar instead of tbe training room. That way only the dearly beloved Mahomes's kicker is the only kicker nailing these things.

Of course he never boomed one like that at Arkansas but he was a very consistent, dependable, kicker. If he can do that at this level plus hit these long ones he’ll be very valuable to his team.

Except for the one he doinked off the right upright against 8&4 in 2022 and resulted in a 2 point loss. Sent Arkansas' season into a spiral from which it never really recovered.

More and more kickers are making 55+ FGs in the NFL.

Maybe the value of FGs needs to be cut to 2.5 points. Bookies wouldn't like it, though. You'll start seeing spreads with quarter points.

It was a crazy time to follow field goal kickers. It seemed like UT's Erxleben, Arkansas's LIttle, and A&M's

It was crazy that these 3 came along at the same time. We never saw that again. But they were kicking off of a field goal kicking tee which was taken away later. It was a great time for Arkansas football.

Yeah, for sure the kicking tee helped.

Just as big in different ways is that the opponent started their possession at their own 20 yard line on a missed field goal, which seems insane now, but that's what was done. Certainly encouraged longer field goal attempts!

Also, the posts were 5 yards wider on either side, so 10 yards wider overall.
