Maybe Florida has a little more variety, but Louisiana seasons, prepares, and cooks everything better.

I’ve lived in just about every SEC state and I agree with this. But it depends what you like as well. If you like to fish and cook yourself, it’s hard to beat Fla. with the variety of places you can go fish. Freshwater, saltwater, crustaceans, deep sea fishing, all within reach. But if you like someone else to cook for you, there’s many great restaurants across the south. It’s very easy to have favorites in every city.

Overall, most places in Louisiana just does it right. People in LA just know how to cook. They can move to other states and take their great cooking with them. That state makes the best cooks by far. No place makes great gumbo like LA.

I can always tell when a place has a chef from LA.

Moo State, what did you expect. They just need to stick with their Ice Cream. Moo State Dairy is awesome.

You realize Texas has 10x (100x? A shite ton more) more coast than little MS and has influences from Mexico, Latin America, and Asia in their seafood.

What does this have to do with anything? Texas is also more populated.

We have those same demographics plus a lot of cajun and creole influence.

It’s okay for Texas to not be great in everything.
You guys used to be great in football.
I used to think A&M and Utexas offered high quality educations, but judging by the caliber of Texas posters on this board, I’m now doubting that.

In Florida, you're also not as prone to a spillway being opened 3 months straight and destroying the eco system.

He's probably never spent any time in coastal Mississippi.

You never knew it, but Biloxi was once considered the seafood capital of the USA. This was before hurricane Camille destroyed the local industry. It returned over the decades and has had many Vietnamese operators that immigrated there in the 1970s.

Lived in FL from LA and live coastal MS. FL has more varied options as you mention but FL can’t season their food at all. It’s fresh but all tastes the same. Also, Lobster is the most over rated seafood item ever, especially warm water lobster.

Yeah, Florida seafood is probably a little healthier than Louisiana seafood, but they could use a little bit of education on sauces and seasoning.

I've never understood the fascination with lobster.

Alabama, because my mother's kitchen is there, and I have not had better seafood anywhere else.

Lived in La, Ms, Al, and Fl, and actually all have great seafood places, you just have to find them.

The worse seafood meal I ever had was in La by the way. I went to a place in Baton Rouge with some family from there, none of us like it.

If you combine the Hispanic, 2 or more races (non Hispanic), & Asian it makes up less than 5% of the population. Get out of here with this nonsense.

Well, Biloxi is 5% asian, but I'm pretty sure all of that 5% is in the seafood industry.

Maybe you shouldn't pretend to know stuff you don't.

Florida is hands down the best place to obtain seafood but Louisiana is the best place to have it served. Just something about Cajun cuisine that sets it apart from the rest of the country.

Like BBQ, if you get the freshest seafood and prepare it well, you don't need all the heavy sauces to mask the taste. And it is funny that the people known for their worship of mud bugs would say anything negative about ocean bugs.

Lobster>>>>>Crawfish or you are just being a homer.

For fresh quality and taste, South Carolina oysters are head and shoulders better than anything coming from south of here or from the Gulf. It just isn't debatable.

Brown shrimp are better than white shrimp wherever you find them.

Abundance comes in to play with plentiful stone crab and lobster in Florida and yellowfin tuna in Louisiana waters.

It is all good!
