I mean if those two are the top, FL is 1C easily.

Mobile, AL. Can’t beat the seafood on the causeway or Joe Patty’s in Baldwin County

I mean, every coastal SEC state has great seafood.

I don’t really see much of a debate to be had here.

Don't let Mississippi fool you. The cuisine on the coast is stout. Basically an extension of LA cooking.

I'll put the seafood in Charleston, SC against pretty much anywhere else.

Pretty much everybody can get fresh shrimp except 4 states!

Being that there is more of a selection of seafood rather than shrimp I will go with Louisiana

Hard to beat the food in New Orleans in general. Lots of seafood. There are a few places in Hilton head and fernandina beach that are killer too. But overall Louisiana wins.

But why? The Atlantic by Charleston is the exact same as the Atlantic by Tybee.

I’d take New Orleans over Charleston, but can’t argue with someone who prefers low country. Both outstanding.

Its the South, you have to factor in catfish and crawfish.

That said, LA has best mix of all and best cuisine in preparing them.

I'm not sure there is a great deal difference in the AL, MS, GA options.

FL wins for quantity and variety based on locations.

Coastal SC also VERY good.

But, at the end of the day, there is not a great deal of change in how the food is prepared... outside of LA, which is easily the winner.

Maybe the batter ingredients for fried fish, cornbread/hushpuppy, greens, beans or onion varieties to complement the dish create some point of discussion. But, likely, not much.

Louisiana wins the salt and freshwater seafood competition hands down.

I’m not familiar with South Carolina but I’d put Louisiana top on this list. Seafood everywhere in South Louisiana and simply outstanding.

this is the first time i've ever lived in a state where you can walk in to almost any large chain grocery store and buy fresh oysters, my wife tells me there's a rule of thumb about oysters, only eat them during months ending in an "R" any you guys ever heard anything like that?

basically you don't eat raw oysters in summer months.

I lived in LA for almost 3 yrs and, also, currently reside in SC. I agree 100% on the totality of the seafood. But, again, it is the cajun cuisine that sets LA apart.

The fried catfish IMO is more on the cook and secret batter ingredients. I don't know of a great deal of real difference in it regionally.

AL and MS also have a large # of really good catfish places and very clean tasting fish (likely due to the large # of catfish farms in each). But, even still, there isn't a "Bama" or " 'Sip" style. It is cook to cook and restaurant to restaurant.
