I was shocked by how many UGA fans were openly celebrating in the game thread when he went down. Why’s he hated so much?

Because, like most fan bases, the best QB in the minds of most Dawg fans is the one not starting....a lot like Ewers and Manning at UT. He has also lost 2 regular season games - not something many Dawg fans are accustomed to. One of those games, at least, was the result of his having thrown a pile of interceptions.....again, not a endearing trait to your team's fanbase. Beck has not had a good season. He has, at times, looked like a very bad QB, and other times looked merely serviceable. Many Dawg fans have never gotten over the whole Justin Fields / Jake Fromm controversy and many of them had to eat a truck load of crow over Stetson Bennett. It is not unusual for fans to reason they know more about their team and its players than the person making millions of dollars to coach that team and those players....we are all guilty of it at times, UGA fans are no worse or better than any other fanbase in this area.....many of my fellow Dawgs were indeed excited to see Beck leave the game and not be able to throw any more interceptions.....because they are fanatics and logic and reason do not apply....

I was in the stadium on Saturday and say about 80% of it being UGA fans. Didn't see many texas fans.

There weren't as many Texas fans as there would have been Arkansas or Missouri fans and I have been in the same 4 seats when both of those played in the game. Texas did not travel well at all considering.

UGA's prior two regular season losses were in 2020. It's been a little bit.

He went 13-1 last year, his only loss by 3 to Bama. He hasnt been perfect, but it’s frickin ridiculous to not recognize the job he’s done.

Most UGA fans do recognize what he's done.

But this year he's played worse than last year.

It's the exact same situation at Texas. Ewers was really good last year. This year he threw for over 300 yards just once in the regular season. He was below 200 four times. Like Ewers, Beck got worse from last season.

And while most UGA fans recognize he's likely our best option. Most of us also realize the difference between him and our backups got a lot smaller, and some would rather see the backups play.

Same with some Texas fans calling for Manning to play.

A Pyrrhic victory is a “a victory that is not worth winning because so much is lost to achieve it.” The word comes from the name of Pyrrhus, a long-ago king of Epirus, who suffered heavy losses in defeating the Romans at Asculum in Apulia in 279 B.C.E.

Pyrrhic first came into use as an adjective, in the late 17th century, with the meaning of “of, relating to, or resembling that of Pyrrhus.” In its earliest use it was used in reference to the war waged by the king.

Kinda weird to be celebrating opponent injuries like this.

Willy, is that you?

I think he's referring to Beck's now gimp arm and ur backup qb's probable concussion after his head nearly came off after getting walloped .

Almost no fan base would understand that taking the first loss of the regular season in 3(?) years is not exactly something that will warm the cockles of one's heart....the second one is akin to someone kicking your dog.....

In fairness, Texas has two losses and have been in here wishing Manning was their QB.

All that and we still beat his team. Must be embarrassing.

Being ridiculous is what being a fanatic is about. There ain't no logic in it, its all about the feels. There is a reason that Alabama is Alabama. What looks like fricking outrageous expectations in Tuscaloosa is merely the foundation of what Alabama football is in the hearts and minds of Alabama fans....and like a lot of shite in life when you expect outrageous shite pretty soon, somehow, outrageous shite starts to come your way. There is nothing special about the water or air in Tuscaloosa....but those motherfrickers refuse to accept being elite when they can be better than that....and from time to time it works out for them. And at least twice now it happened for an extended period of time.

If you had any balls you would honor the ban bet and be gone. Just cowardice behavior

Thanks it's an amazing feeling being a champion.

Pyrrhic first came into use as an adjective, in the late 17th century, with the meaning of “of, relating to, or resembling that of Pyrrhus.” In its earliest use it was used in reference to the war waged by the king.

The Generous Brutus her Infranchiser,
Papyrius, who reveng'd the Pyrrhick War;
Stayd Curius, and Fabricius, a stern Pair!
Marcellus, who the third rich Trophies bare
And Cossus Second, from Kings spoyl'd of Life.
— Edward Shelburne, The Sphere or Marcus Manilius, 1675

In the early 19th century Pyrrhic began to be paired with victory, and the two words took on the specific meaning of ‘victory achieved at excessive cost.’

And then you follow it up with a melt. I love it.

I've asked you multiple times how you'd like me to honor the bet and you have been a ghost. Now you come out of your sad, little shell.

What do you want? I can't figure out how to DM people here, so if you want to DM me and I'll give you this handle and pw, and you can use it, burn it, throw it away, whatever. VYforever is yours.
