As Steve Sarkisian looks to continue to build a strong staff in Austin, we’re told that he’s going after the lone remaining member of the LSU defensive staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Sark has made a very strong offer to bring LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond to Texas.

Raymond has been a part of the LSU coaching staff since 2011 and currently serves a the Tigers corners coach and recruiting coordinator. He previously spent a few seasons in Baton Rouge as an intern and assistant strength coach before starting his coaching journey.

Considered a very strong recruiter, Raymond has previous coaching stops at Nebraska, and Utah State between his stints at LSU. He spent a handful of season in the NFL with the Giants and Lions, where he played corner.

Orgeron is meeting with Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman today and stated on Baton Rouge radio earlier this week Freeman was his primary target for the job. Will be interesting to see if Orgeron can land Freeman; and if they can retain Corey Raymond.

Bad call by Sark unless he wants to give up 623 passing yds to the likes of Costello

Texas Head Steve Sarkisian sure knows how to run a program. I would hate to lose someone like Sark. Ouch!

It doesn't specify, but a day or so ago it was reported that he was looking at Barry Odom and Zach Arnett at DC.

He's already been turned down by both of them

Hmm, well I guess he could be offering the DC spot here then, unless he thought Raymond was interested in a lateral move.

Doubtful he leaves unless it’s for a DC job.

He’s turned down offers from better coaches and better schools than Sark and Texas.

Pretty interesting though when an offensive guy looks to hire a coach that he recently schemed against.

Raymond obviously wasn't the DC at the time, but one would assume he saw something that he liked, going head-to-head?

What a trash arse fanbase

Come on man I thought you were elevating your game on here. People say stupid stuff, no different from a LSU poster saying he wanted track down Tuscaloosa it wasn't to shake his hand either. I don't think the entire LSU fanbase is trash because one poster.

Pretty sure Odom was never officially offered the job and only interviewed.

But ColoradoAg has Mack Brown on his Christmas card list, so I'm sure he's in the know
