Football Conference strength, no longer cyclical

B1G has sucked for years, their recruiting territory sucks and they just lost their only power program with Urban's retirement. They are rich though.
ACC has to live on SEC leftovers for the most part. No depth typically after Clemson or FSU which aren't even their state flagships.
B12 is full of little brothers skimming off OU and Texas. Horrible recruiting rankings shows up in terrible defenses.
Pac 12 is just bad, don't care about football.
I can't think of a reason why the SEC domination of football won't continue and even increase.
Hopefully Sankey can leverage this into good things for the SEC members in the next round of media contracts and can separate the SEC from other conferences.

It’s been the best conference since 06.
So i don’t see where it’s going to change anytime soon

The SEC was founded in the early 30's. The SEC has had teams win the national title in football every decade it has been in existence, and most times several national titles during a decade (30's- 3, 40's-2, 50's-3, 60's-3, 70's-3, 80's-1, 90's-3, 00's- 5, 10's- 5). Future SEC teams were winning national titles in the 1910's and 1920's as well.
This is nothing new for the SEC

You guys make fun of us for how long it's been. But if it weren't for that one team, that streak would be broken.

and it may have been broken if you actually had to play the #2, #3, or #4 team in the SEC that year

It's been the best conference since 2003

TV exposure for every game played by a P5 team ruined the other conferences.
Good players want exposure so they reach the NFL. Before they televised almost all games all the good players left home to go to blue bloods like OSU, Michigan, FSU, Nebraska, Texas, Alabama etc because only they played on TV.
But most top players live in SEC country and always have. Now that they can get on TV playing at Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU, Arkansas, MSU etc they choose to stay closer to home. As a result the SEC top to bottom became much stronger while other conferences struggle for top talent

The big 12 was better from 2000 - 2009 top to bottom including Mizzou and A&M. The main thing that has changed since about 2009 is the media narrative. I mean Florida is a top 10 team every year FFS. That shows you the issue right there.

Yea that's it. The SEC is built on a mirage. You cracked the code.

Curious comment considering the OP's team just signed a Clemson (ACC) Leftover to head their offense.

Not a mirage. The sec has one or two of the best teams in football almost every year since 2010 It’s the rest of the teams I have an issue with.

Interesting that you picked 2006 as your start "baw".
Alabama is responsible for 5 of the national championships.
Auburn got one with Rent-a-Cam Newton
Urban Meyer got 2 at UF
Lesticles got one with Saban's players...
So we have 4 programs with one truly dominating since 2006...Is the SEC a 4-team conference? I see 4 teams dominating and I will even include UGA as an emerging program.
What's the rest of the league done aside from riding the coat tails of these elite programs?
The SEC would be a very pedestrian conference if it didn't have Alabama as it's anchor. If you look at the history of national championships prior to Nick Saban entering the league the SEC was merely a voice in the choir. So you can thank Nick Saban and Alabama for your success.

There were 8 in the final rankings which I believe is a record high mark. They have more elite teams and more good teams, and a glance at this year's recruiting rankings shows they are as dominate as ever.
I think a poster above has it right about TV exposure keeping more home. Also there has been some reverse migration of people that left the South pre civil rights era moving back.
Only way I see to revert is for the SEC to hire a bunch of bad coaches and other conferences to find great coaches. Seems unlikely.

the first year we (the SEC) won it to start the streak baw.
Actually I have no fricking clue and just threw shite to see if it would stick.
It's all just a beat around the bush and has no significance on my team because we were 7-5 this year and in the good years when we won 11 games we fricked up in some stupid game that ruined our season and a chance at the SEC.

quote:Not a chance. The Big Twelve has never been better than the SEC. Look at all those Cotton Bowl games that the SEC won over the Big Twelve runner-up during that decade.

We played #4. Don't know what you're looking at.

quote:You could say that about any conference. All I know is that Tennessee, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M,Ole Miss and Arkansas have all won recognized national championships in their history. That's nine different programs. No other conference can match that.....especially yours.

Football is religion in the Deep South and it has the highest concentration of black folks so why would the SEC not remain the strongest?

You're Welcome Missouri. You asked to be in the Big-ten. Yet here you are in the Southeastern Conference
