Our LBs and OL are FAU quality and that's not Mullen's fault.

Mullen did have every opportunity to get some JUCO players in to fill the gaps temporarily.

In retrospect, Zook was a better coach than any of us gave him credit for being. He wasn't up to snuff considering what he was following but both of our programs have since seen far worse coaches.

It's the same problem every single year.

We don't have a viable person standing at the Quarterback position.

You can't have a functioning offense without that crucial piece and while other parts of the team were bad, none were as bad as the QB play.

Mullen inherited Feleipe Franks -- a guy cosplaying as a Quarterback, two-star Kyle Trask and True Freshman Emory Jones. Franks went for 44.7% passes on 44 dropbacks and was only hurried four times. Any team with any Quarterback throwing that badly will struggle to win.

A lot of people point at S&C, defense, etc. etc., but that game was more than winnable. Kentucky won by two possessions, but were gifted the ceremonious Feleipe Franks strip-sack touchdown at the end of the game.

I think, suffice to say, that if our defense has to hold every single team for the rest of our season to less than 14 points so our acrid offense can win, then we're in for a long season.

We fix the QB problem, we'll be okay and win a lot of games. If it remains the problem, we're looking at two more shite years. Bottom line, though, is that this is on Mullen -- specifically for believing in Feleipe Franks.

I don’t think Mullen believes in Franks. I do think he believes in Terry Wilson. He just didn’t get him. As for “more than winnable” not sure what game you saw but you had 29 seconds for a last possession starting around the 5. Starting from the moment Kentucky took the lead in the third quarter you were never at risk of winning. And no idea what made it a “gifted...strip-sack touchdown”.

Kentucky's defense didn't cause Franks to completely misread them, he does that without the aid of opposing teams. The problem I'm referring to is:

Kentucky only scored 21 points on offense and outside of Franks being stripped sacked (it happened like three times last year, and already once this year) -- that was an entirely winnable game for us.

It wasn't like you guys scored 45 points and we could have never scored that many points. A real Quarterback playing at Florida would have absolutely changed the entire landscape of the game.

I wrote in the off-season about Franks not being able to see the field beyond 6 yards (he had zero completions over 6 yards in the Spring Game) and last week he went 4 - 22 on throws over than six yards.

The only reason Kentucky beat Florida is because our offense is a complete shitshow. 21 points at home is not insurmountable for an offense who even has a good -- no -- mediocre Quarterback. Franks is not even mediocre.

Is that really what you’re going to roll with when our defense left a few INTs (and likely points) on the board and at least one deep drive on offense was stifled by a turnover by Wilson?

Nothing like giving credit where credit is due.

Straws hates Franks and wanted his boy Trask to win starting job...regardless of the fact Trask hasn't started a game since middle school. Franks led the Gators on a 99 yd TD drive late in the game but Straws overlooks that.

NO QB will perform well when the team is being manhandled by the their foes defense. Franks was our leading rusher with 47 yds. Once a team is one dimensional....the other team knows you have to throw. UK just flat out beat us on both sides of the lines. UKs center pushed our nose tackle around like he was on skates.

Straws wants to blame the QB...but there were plenty of blame sandwiches to share.

Not a UF fan but I think Mullen is a quality coach. NOt sure Mc had good crootin classes back to back and didn't a few good players leave. Just like a Bama NS had then rolling after year 1, but we were also coming off sanctions.

Good grief, this is stupid.

It's Mullen's second game. The people writing him off already aren't very intelligent

Same can be said when Les Miles lost the second game of his career to Tennessee, first game in Tiger Stadium after Katrina. He lost a good portion of fans that day, and never fully gained them back, even after winning the SEC West that same year and a natty a couple years later. You get on the bad side early, you'll stay on the bad side.

At MSU , Mullen was 8-1 against Kentucky and undefeated when not saddled with shitty Peter Sirmon.

Now, from watching Dan for 10 years, he very well could have overlooked Kentucky and not fully prepared. That's part of his MO

Have to chuckle.....far too many are either saying Florida totally screwed the game up against Kentucky or simply Kentucky is still no good.

READ IT HERE....KENTUCKY WAS AND IS THE BETTER TEAM - THIS YEAR.

Kentucky is improved from the past...but that is what it is...the past. I can argue that Kentucky was the National Champs in 1950.....I can also argue they they were the worst in the nation under Joker Phillips.....but the fact remains....it is old news.

This year....and now....Kentucky beat florida....not a former coaches fault or former players......

Stop drinking the kool aid people....the better team won.

I think Mullen is a good coach, but I’m surprised how well UK ran the ball on your defense. How much of that is on the current staff vs what Jim M left behind?

Just FYI, his first year at Mississippi State (a 5-7) season, he still managed to beat Kentucky AT Kentucky, with Sylvester Croom's players.

You mean the Kentucky team that Rich Brooks was saddled with the effects of probation team?

No, I mean the Kentucky team that went 7-5 in the regular season and lost a close game to Clemson in the Music City Bowl.

You beat Louisville, Vandy, Georgia, and Auburn that year, and took Tennessee to OT. You lost to a ranked USCe by two on the road.
