You can call it roughing the passer then. Happened a few times. The refs did not decide the game, but they missed/ blew several calls. They were chasing the Jason Autrey crew level of incompetence last night.

No you dont. The five interior lineman, the TE and Williams in the slot were all on the LOS. The other two WR’s in the trips formation bracketing him were both off the LOS making them eligible. Go to the 1:14 mark. The formation was completely legal, and Williams was an eligible WR.

Do you need a guy on the LOS on both sides of the formation? That’s the only thing I can think of here. TE and the WR on the line are both on the right.

Looked like an awful call to me at the time.

EDIT: I see where they messed up. The TE was not an eligible receiver and the LT was. But the TE didn’t go out for a pass and wasn’t thrown to. The WR was the player on the right end of the LOS and was eligible.

Did the TE run a route or just block?

I think the ref made a dumbass mistake. He confused Williams with the guy to his left, who was covered up by Williams. It's a stupid mistake, so there should be a review process to correct such a shitty error.

It was so egregious that it kept us from getting beaten 24-10.

He just blocked. He got downfield during the throw a bit, but it didn’t look like it was far enough to matter. And more to the point, the ref who threw the flag just stared down Williams the entire way and would never have noticed the position of the TE to make any call based on him getting downfield.

The You Tube video starts when the ball is snapped with one second left.

The outside WR apparently lined up on the LOS and then moved back after Milroe started his snap count.

I would like to see how the Alabama playbook has it configured. Was the outside WR supposed to have been on the LOS? Did he then move after he saw how Williams was lined up on the LOS?

I don't suppose the SEC has released a statement defending their officials. By the way that hand to the face on Milroe is a penalty they missed that too..

He'll be gone should Alabama win this week so let him get it out of his system.

Just watched the play on the SEC network replay of the game.

That is exactly what happened.

The linemen were set and the outside WR went up to the line.

The moment he did that, Williams was covered up.

The WR then motioned back a yard or so which is legal as long as he didn't move forward again.

Rule 7 3 11 was the accurate call.

For fifteen years LSU fans have been screaming that SEC officiating sucks and should be improved.

But then Alabama fans say SEC officiating sucks and should be improved and LSU fans say “no, that’s just part of football”.
