Sorry, I hadn't seen the recent reports that they have not hired him directly. However, if anyone believes that the attorneys at Lightfoot have not discussed this with Gene (who is of counsel at Lightfoot), they are fooling themselves.
And anyone who fricking believes that Cecil Newton is clean in this whole fiasco are fooling themselves as well.
shite you Aubs are some hardheaded frickers!

not exactly, heres the quote from the article:
"A source close to the situation exclusively told Channel 2 Action News investigative reporter Mark Winne that the player's father, Cecil Newton, has admitted having conversations with an ex-Mississippi State University player about the possibility of under-the-table money if Cam Newton signed to play football at Mississippi State, though he's steadfastly maintained that no money ever changed hands and said no official at Mississippi State ever made such an offer."
its been rumored that rogers was actually the one that brought the money into the conversation, but theres nothing i can find to substantiate that rumor. as it is, what i quoted is still from an "unnamed source" whose credibility is unknown.
Exactly. Despite all the bullshite rumors and anonymous sources, he only facts out there right now are:
--MSU accused Kenny Rogers of soliciting money for Cam
--Kenny Rogers accused Cecil Newton of starting the progress
--Cecil Newton says Kenny Rogers is full of shite and acted on his own
--Kenny Rogers has already backtracked twice on his original story
--Cecil Newton has said nothing else other than the original statement
If there are no tapes, and MSU is not accusing Cecil Newton of approaching them, then it's a he said/he said situation.

Are you saying that Cecil Newton/Kenny Rogers/2 MSU recruiteres weren't in a hotel room discussing possible pay-for-play for Cam Newton?

My point has been that, even if Cecil is dirty and solicited money, Cam's eligibilty, while seriously in doubt, is not as open and shut as some on here want to believe. That's all I was saying. AU has some arguments that it can make to the NCAA. My guess is that the NCAA won't buy it and AU will be forced to vacate wins.
And anyone who fricking believes that Cecil Newton is clean in this whole fiasco are fooling themselves as well.

Cecil Newton is not on the record as admitting to shite. You're using a Mark Winnie article that says he has a source who Cecil Newton admitted to. He didn't admit anything to Mark Winnie. ESPN didn't even deem this article worthy enough to run with.
He wouldn't just stick his neck out there like that.

Joe Schad did not report this article. He is the one who had "two sources" with tapes of Cam and Cecil admitting to taking money. Once again, show me tapes with Cecil Newton talking about money and I'll eat my words.

To be accurate, Schad never mentioned tapes.

Finebaum Tweet: "Newton Could Be Cleared By End of Week"
AuburnUndercover and Phillip Marshall have been saying that for a few days. It was discussed at length yesterday here, FWIW. IMO, I have a hard time believing anything will be wrapped up by week's end and won't believe any of these types of reports, good or bad for AU, until it happens.
+1

You're right. His sources said that they had phone conversations.

According to Auburn Undercover
Is that supposed to be a source or a caveat? They've been claiming they'd be "cleared" by the end of the week since last week, if I remember correctly.

From what I understand Schad reported it yesterday.
I very well could be wrong though.
