Then you invalidate many of the end of year awards and accolades for players.

That’s essentially saying no Bama player deserves an award because Bama has 5 star players lining up around him.

Let's put it like this: take Joe Burrow and put him on that 2010 Auburn team. Do they win the NC? I don't think so.

Now take Cam and put him on 2019 LSU. Holy shite.

My vote has to go to Cam Newton. That dude carried a team of mostly scrubs to a national championship

They had talent on offense (Michael Dyer, Onterio McCalebb) enough to keep teams honest in that scheme.

But I agree his ability to pass/run in that system allowed him to have one great season just as Joe did in 2019.

Joe brings so much more than just throwing to great receivers (although that's a huge plus).

I would say what people don't fully understand about Joe is the affect his work ethic has on everyone on the team and coaching staff.

I can't vote for Joe Burrow for "best CFB QB ever" for the same reason I can't vote for Mac Jones. Yes, statistically they had the top seasons by any QB ever, and they were both dominant their last year in college, but look at who each of them had to throw to. I could have been a serviceable QB on either of those teams.

My vote has to go to Cam Newton. That dude carried a team of mostly scrubs to a national championship. And believe me, I'd rather vote for anyone but him.

Cam, Mac, and Burrow all had one tremendous year. For best all time, I need more than one year. I'll throw in Vince Young, too. Hard for me vote for anyone but Tebow.

Another reason not to vote for Burrow, the best all-time wouldn't get shutout at home.

Well...I'm old enough to have witnessed more than a few great college quarterbacks but I have to go with these guys:

My Great Eight

1) Joe Burrow
2) Joe Montana (I saw it)
3) Roger Staubach (winning the Heisman at Navy is not easy)
4) Peyton Manning
5) Archie Manning
6) Vinnie Testeverde
7) Steve Young
8) Bert Jones

The position has kind of changed over the years so it's almost like asking who is the best QB Pre WW2, from WW2 to 1980, 1980 to 2000 and so on. The Rules change, the offenses change. I do believe that the guys I listed could have excelled in all of these eras.

Much better way to put it, but I disagree that one would be markedly better than the other. Both pulled incredible plays out of their asses.

For me, Burrow 2019 gets the nod because he was significantly better in passing than Newton 2010 was.

Burrow had a 76% completion rate for 5671 yards.

Newton had a 66% completion rate for 2800 yards.

Newton was better rushing 1400 yards to Burrow’s 400.

True, but it wasn't like Newton was a poor passer. You have to figure his passing numbers look a lot better throwing to Chase and Jefferson versus McCaleb and Other Guy Whose Name No One Remembers.

For just College years?

Cam - Guy won games by himself. He beat LSU by himself one year. They could not stop him.

Oh and Best RB for what it is worth.
Bo

Yes I know both Auburn guys but my opinion both were generational and could win a game by themselves.

As for Joe he is top 5 for sure but when it is said who was the BEST QB to ever PLAY in the SEC (Different question). It will be Joe when you include what I think he will accomplish in the Pros.

As usual the respondents are all under 30.

In no particular order

Sammy Baugh
Jim McMahon
Michea Vick
Tim Tebow
Roger Staubach
Vince Young

A few underappreciated ones:

Timmy Change
David Klingler
Joe Namath never got enough respect as a college QB.

The answer is Cam Newton.

Nobody did more with less to support him.

Had his dad's church not needed $180k for roof repairs and he'd have rejoined Dan Mullen in Starkville, we'd have won the title that year. We were 8-4 and only lost to Auburn by 3. Newton would have won the rest.

Burrow then proceeded to make it to the Super Bowl playing against NFL players with the worst Oline in the league.

Burrow was a great qb in college because he’s a great qb.

Even as a longhorn, the answer here has to be Tim Tebow or Joe Burrow.

Looking at just college accolades, it's pretty hard to stack a resume against either of those two.

What are my court chances in bringing a defamation case against a certain sip poster on the Rant?

I’ve been reading cases of anonymous people getting caught up with way less material than he has thrown at me over the years

Pages and pages and pages of how I’m Daniel the racist etc. Seems pretty cut and dry. Willing to bet a decent lawyer could get his IP/identity from Chicken to move forward

Thoughts?

You really want to get served don’t you

Yes you can be sued even on an “anonymous” website for defamation. Calling someone a racist for years with zero grounds is a slam dunk case

My lawyers follow your post history. Thanks for even more material!

Which has exactly nothing to do with what we're talking about. No one is arguing Burrow isn't a great QB. And even in the pros he still has some of the best receivers in the league to throw to.

Here's some more numbers to back up my assertion that Newton is the best QB I've ever seen play the game and led 2010 Auburn to an NC almost single-handedly.

In the 2020 draft, LSU had 14 players total drafted. The following year, they had 7 total, and in 2022 they had 10. So clearly there was a lot of talent on that 2019 team.

In the 2011 draft, Auburn had 4 players total drafted. In 2012 they had 1. In 2013 they also had 1.

2010 Auburn had no business being anywhere near the national championship game, save for the fact that they had the greatest QB in the history of the sport.
