Good for them. I for one think it is each individuals right to make their own decisions about whether to play or not. They will sign waivers and the necessary testing will be implemented all season. MLB is in session now, isn't it...and the NFL will probably play this year so why not CFB. Let it at least get off the ground for cryin out loud. Sure, their will be some positive cases but hopefully not a big outbreak. If it does then take the step to stop the season. Just my opinion.

A union would be a disaster for the sport

Current U.S. law makes such a union illegal. At least that's what I've been told.

A union would kill college football. If you think they’re only unionizing so they can play football this year then I’m not sure what to tell you

An amateur union, college football is a choice not a job.

That union, not covid is the reason there will not be college football in 2020, period.

I don't think it is an actual contracted union like the AFL-CIO, but rather players getting together and supporting their stance.. I think it is more like a protest without any contractual inferences.

People operating within the same craft even if they're competitors would be very wise to work together and look after each other's back. This applies to all human endeavors.

They should avoid calling it a "union" because people get hung up on magic and voodoo words which are politically loaded.

I think Lawrence wants to play and recognizes that the best way to get more people in board is to give some creedance to the PAC 12 movement. Need to negotiate and compromise a little bit at least to get the most people on board possible

You can speak in absolutes all you want, but this isn’t the best way to get people on board, nor will the NCAA gain anything by “negotiating and compromising” with a bunch of kids who can barely spell their own names and are only enrolled in colleges because they can run fast.

All of these kids want to be politicians because they play football, and none of them know dick about the real world and only want to unionize so they can bully schools into giving them a ridiculous amount of free shite. Nothing good can come from this

One you have to have to support yourself vs one that is a child's sport in exchange for a free education.

free education.

Education that might land you a great job or a chance in the NFL but keep downplaying it

You have to understand that the dawg you are replying to relies on gov handouts. It’s a mindset.

What it might land you is irrelevant to what it could do. It's a hobby at the amatuer level.

Job at the next level.

That is why the NFL has a Union already and college football does not.

It's a hobby and as this drags on people's priorities are changing, I imagine pro sport is in a world of trouble.
