Why is anyone arguing about places within an hours drive of the town? Who cares? "Man, Baton Rouge is awesome because I can get to New Orleans in an hour and a half" "Athens is great because Atlanta is 60 miles away" "Columbia is only two hours from Charleston!"
Yeah, that is a weird argument either way. Check out all of these cool places that are inconvenient for me to go to.

When I take an SEC road trip I am always drawing an 80 mile radius around the city and seeing how many day trips I can cram in the 18 hours I have in town.

I personally love Atlanta because it is only a 2 and half hour flight to New York.

Exactly. I'm not talking about places an hour away from Starkville.

The Indian casinos are an hour and 15 minutes from Starkville, tunica is an hour and 15 minutes from Oxford. You brought up the Indian casinos as being a positive for Starkville

Don't be a simpleton. Forget what you think you know. Its one persons opinion you don't agree with...doesn't mean you have to play up to the stereotype.

If I had to bring up trips to Philly as a selling point on Tuscaloosa I'd probably have to stop talking about my college town.

To be fair, did you read the quote he was responding to?

I feel ignorant about Mississippi because of this thread. I know of Tunica, have heard of Philadelphia but I really don't think I've ever heard of Grenada

Good list. Though as everyone will point out, Nashville isn't a college town.
Baton Rouge is a lot higher than I expected. But its come a long way since I showed up 10 years ago. Based on what's happening downtown, I think it'll be second or third in the next five to ten years. Athens is, and should always be number one.
